Excellent hôtel

Chambre très spacieuse, fonctionnelle et très propre ! Il y a un petit lavabo privé (avec du savon) très pratique, et vous avez la possibilité d'utiliser un frigo et un micro onde (commun). Le wc était commun mais il était également très propre. Le lit était grand et très confortable. La vue depuis la chambre était magnifique. Les espaces communs (couloirs, salons..) sont très propres et agréables également. L'hôtel est à 5 minutes à pied des départs de croisière, de restaurants et d'un supermarché. Le personnel donne de supers conseils sur les alentours. Mention spéciale à Jamila qui s'est occupée de nous avec un enthousiasme et une gentillesse très appréciable !! Si nous revenons à Gudvangen nous reviendrons ici !

Budget experience at a glorified truck stop

The quality of the experience is right there in the name: budget. We walked from the dock to the hotel, only to discover that there is no one on site, and we had to walk back to the visitor center to check in. There is no one on site, which kind of seems abandoned while renovation work goes on. There was a communal fridge and microwave in the hallway (the space was not tidy). The bathrooms/ showers were nice (bring shower shoes), and it was the most comfortable mattress we slept on the whole trip. But the window shades didn't work well, and the wifi didn't reach to our room, so we had to go down to the lobby to use our devices. We chose to purchase food from the convenience store across the stream instead of buying breakfast from the visitor center.

Room is very clean and the service is good with close to port for fjord cruise. But several rooms have two shared public showers and toilets, potentially inconvenient in the mornings and nights, especially for seniors.

This was a beautiful place, right at a famous fjord. With waterfalls coming down all around, a nice restaurant and a really nice reasonable priced gift store. We loved it there!

The word budget is a good description. The room was small, hostel-like and the bed was hard. There were steep stairs to get ti the room. The hotel reception was a block away. The staff were helpful. I didn't see the rooms of the main hotel where the reception was but my guess is they were better. It is convienient to the dock for a Fjord tour

J'ai marché jusqu'à l'hébergement (avec mes bagages). Une pancarte indiquait que le booking se faisait à un autre bâtiment. Je suis donc retournée (avec mes bagages). J'étais d'avance, mais on m'a indiqué que la chambre était prête, on m'a remis la clé. J'ai marché (avec mes bagages). Je suis entrée dans la chambre, elle n'étais pas prête et n'avait été nettoyée. Aucun personnel sur place, donc je suis retournée (avec mes bagages). La dame s'est excusée et elle m'a remis un billet de déjeuner gratuit pour le lendemain matin. J'ai patienté pendant plus d'une heure et on m'a remis la clé en me disant que c'était prêt. Je suis retournée (avec mes bagages) et la femme de ménage était dans la chambre, son travail n'était pas completé du tout. J'ai eu ma chambre 10-15 minutes plus tard! Bref!

굳이 구드방엔에선 머물지 마세요.

구드방엔 피요르드텔에서 버짓호텔까지 다 체크인 한다. 리셉션을 찾기 어렵다. 페리에서 내리자마자 빵집이 있고 그 뒤에 레스토랑겸 기념품점 겸 리셉션이 있다. 버짓호텔보다 더 좋은 바이킹 컨셉 방을 배정해주어 좋았다.

Other than that its expensive to take the bus to go and leave the place (160 NOK, for a 20 min ride to go to Flam), I loved it!! Extremely clean and the staff was just amazing, loved my stay, very comfortable room and very beautiful place. There’s a mini fridge in the room and a grocery store/gas station Joker right across the river, a few steps away.

Even though I booked the Fjordtel Budget Hotel, it was early May and the main hotel was not full so they automatically upgrade me to the main Gudvangen Fjordtell. The room was neat and clean and even had a kitchenette and its own deck. It was a short walk from the main building where you check in and eat. Very cool round building with lots of glass, including the ceiling thru which you can look up 400 meters to see one of the world’s most magnificent water falls. Indeed, the tiny hamlet of Gudvangen is surrounded by towering cliffs like no other place in the world of which I’m aware. It also is the origin of the Naeroyfjord, perhaps the most awesome of all of Norway’s many fjords. It is part of the famous Norway in a Nutshell attractions, and can be taken either from Gudvangen to Flåm or visa versa. In midseason, I assume the place gets very bust because there are parking spaces for dozens of big buses. Many of the buses are from nearby Flam (20 minutes) but the two hour bus ride from Bergen to Gudvangen runs through spectacular scenery. I recommend you get a good seat on a VY double decker and drink in the beauty.
