I stayed 3 nights. On the first night, the smoke detector started chirping at 2 am. The front desk couldn't fix it, and the hotel was booked full according to them. There were no managers on site. I spent the rest of the night in my car, returned to change, and left at 6 am.
When I returned at noon there were supposedly no managers around, but they said the detector was fixed. It was not. They moved me to a new room that was cleaned, but not well. There was a brown smear on the wall, crumbs everywhere, and the bathtub fixtures were falling off. I took a short nap because I was bone tired and had another event to attend at 6 pm.
On the way out, I finally found a manager and explained everything to him. He told me that he had seen me interacting with his staff earlier (so they had lied about a manager being present), told me there were rooms available the previous night (even though that's not what the front desk had told me), and what happened to me "didn't sound like anything that deserves compensation." I got mad and he said that he had to verify my story on the cameras and with maintenance, implying that I was lying about the whole thing. By the end of the discussion, he told me he could not refund me anything. He offered me Hilton points. After the way he spoke to me, I will never stay at a Hilton again.
The next 2 nights were quiet except for the train whistles.
