Have you ever stayed in a hostel? This is what it feels like or a halfway house you see on TV shows/movies. You have to ask the front desk for complimentary shampoo and conditioner (which I didn't because as a woman traveling alone, I pretty much holed up in fear), the floor around the bathtub was water-damaged and puckering, they had Venetian blinds, that were super hard to bring down, and then close, there were no extra bedding if it was cold, it smelled like stale pot in the halls. The mattress sloped inwards like it was old and slept on by heavy people. That I did not get to rest well for the one night I was staying. The mini-kitchen did not even have a coffee maker or coffee makings. They left notices about the parking lot on the door (about long-term parking).
