Remote location offers peace and quiet vs crowded tourist areas. Beach is 100m walk; nice and secluded; not overcrowded; clear waters; bring swim shoes for walking, many rocks in the water; makes walking difficult; 2 caves, occupied by wanderers. Several “super market” and restaurants within 16km. Near-by small towns like Sellia has amazing character and charm. Plakias is the nearest tourist resort. It offers ATM, gas station, and tourist attractions. DO NOT buy souvenirs from the overpriced "Forum". Go to Chania, Rethymnon, or Iraklion (Heraklion) markets, much better and worth the 1-2 hour drive. Manolia is wonderful. Whatever request, she will help. I requested a special dinner for anniversary and had great Greek BBQ grilled with lamb, pork ribs, and chicken. Other guests celebrated with us. Decorated our room with flowers and candles; An experience to remember. Breakfast included. Homemade wine; mild to the taste; adds a flavor of local goodness. Mountains make it remote and beauty. Many curves and turns on road. Use caution; one mistake and over the cliffs you go. Standard rooms are small with fridge; no kitchenette. Suites have kitchenettes. Bathroom is small and the shower area can look better. Mattresses are thin. We asked for comforters to make the bed softer. No iron or hairdryer. If we needed it, it would have been provided Breakfast: keep the warm food warmer. Eggs and ham go cold when we get to it. Overall: I would definitely consider staying here again.
