Pleasing enough

Good location, car park good for the hotel, there was a group on which was very noisy and didn't finish until 12.30. Apart from that the stay was pleasing enough for the money we paid.
Kim, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

Had a lovely stay but it was lacking in staff. My room was fine but noisy in the evenings.
Mirco, 2-night trip

8/10 Good

Staff were at hand to help but a lot of rusting radiator in bathroom bedside light not working but the bed was very comfy and had a go night sleep after a long journey
Stephen, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Good value, but a property in decline.

A good location and clean comfy room, but the hotel itself seems to be on the decline, with the pub very poorly patronised. Good beer, but no food available at any time, staff only in evidence (at the bar) during pub opening times. Parking available and handy for exploring the area. Inexpensive, so maybe to be expected, but could easily be better.
Neil, 2-night trip

6/10 Okay

Pub. Website says breakfast but there was none! New landlord. Helpful but not very organised. Clean and small
Janette, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

Avoid this place

The dirtiest hotel we have ever stayed in,. Got there to find the kitchen is permanently closed so no food even though they are still advertising meals. Very noiay so hardly slept, live band in the bar right below our room. Sits on a busy noisy road
Roderick, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Room was next to main road so woke several times to noise of traffic during night. Lovely shower and clean, comfortable beds with generous tea and coffee facilities but found half a cookie on floor next to bed on arrival and there was a large patch on the wall which needed repairing/making good.
Ruth, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Bad choice

No restaurant facilities, beer gone off only lager___yuk not for me.
3-night trip

2/10 Terrible

Poor should have been informed of the live music

The hotel was tired and the restaurant was closed and band played music until 11:30 at night I couldn’t sleep or hear the tv in my room totally unacceptable my phone was vibrating on the bedside table
Caron, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Wasn’t open when we got there. Although it should have been. Very overpriced for the condition of the hotel. Very dated. Didn’t have a clean feel about it.

White Swan

I guess you get what you pay for. Apart from the beds being very comfortable everything else was tired and needed a bit of TLC. The room we were in needed decorating, curtain pole was falling off. If was dark and not very welcoming. However the rooms themselves were clean and tidy. No food at the pub during our stay so we went to the Advocate Arms which was superb.
Paul, 1-night trip

For weekend rock music lovers

The bed was comfy, and the bedding crisp & clean. Tea & coffee in the room. For a double room, very small and sparsely furnished. Double-glazed windows kept the traffic noise to minimum. The biggest disappointment was to find the advertised on-site restaurant had been closed for several months, so the B&B rate became bed only! We were, however, refunded £8 for the missing breakfast. What wasn't mentioned on Hotels.com, was Saturday night was live music night at the Swan, which, for those needing sleep, ended promptly, as promised, at midnight.
Stephen, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Ideal location for races.lively busy bar with very pleasant staff. However room we stayed in left so much to be desired.needs a lot of tlc in terms of decoration which I appreciate could be costly . However cleanliness doesn’t cost much. Toilet, area around plug in sink and mirror in particular. And the towel rail was disgusting. I don’t believe there are many rooms - a few hours cleaning can’t be out of the question surely??
Karen, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

Don't stop at this place. It is not clean. Room was in need of a revamp. Staff don't care. Our room was given to someone else before we arrived. Couldn't check in straight away lady on bar didn't know how to check guests in. No food available. Very, very poor experience. Would rate at minus 5 out of 10.
John, 2-night trip

4/10 Poor

Very disappointing

The advertising was very misleading. This picture here must have been taken at least 10 years ago as it shows pristine paintwork. The outside is really shabby and peeling. The advertising also shows restaurant meals and the price included free breakfast. I wanted to eat in after a long day and enjoy breakfast before another long day. There is not even a cook and definitely no meals or breakfast available. The bathroom had lots of cobwebs and the bed was very hard. There was exceptionally loud music pounding out in the evening making getting to sleep difficult.
Christopher, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

Not worth staying

Checking in was chaotic and were told to go to our room and try and check in later The room ( allegedly king size ) was tiny with nowhere to put anything We had to shout in the bar/ restaurant to hear ourselves speak. We were then told there was no breakfast facilities in spite of our confirmation saying otherwise First night very noisy and in the morning we could not leave the hotel as we were locked in and we were the only people in the hotel. Eventually we found a fire escape Check out was difficult as payment for our booking could not be found The only good things were the plentiful supply of hot water and a comfortable if small bed
Francis, 2-night trip

4/10 Poor

6.30am woken up by banging on our first floor window. Quite alarming but turned out to be window cleaner using brush on a long pole. Why on earth the management allow this to happen so early in the morning is anyones guess. No one except cleaner around in the morning to complain to, sent email with no reply.
