I booked a non-smoking room but the previous occupant smoked and left 2 butt’s in the trash. While the management was apologetic & did try to spray and clean, when I unreturned to the room hours later the smoke smell was back.

NIGHTMARE AT HOTEL 9.
Same staff for 4 days. Day one: Staff was unfriendly and unaccomodating. At check-in, we informed them there was no coffee and single cup coffeemaker was incomplete. They basically said too-bad, we cannot help you. Day two early morning, shower faucet fell off and sink drain was clogged. We left at 4:30 am for hospital surgery procedure and time to inform staff. Day two returned late at 10:30 pm, too late to talk to staff about issues and saw room had not been serviced. Day 3 morning: Asked for different room because of faulty drain. Lady accused me of delibrately plugging drain because i did not inform her on 1st day of stay. I rejected the notion and felt insulted. Day 3 night: Upon return to second assigned room again at 10:30 pm, there was no tv remote. After approaching night service window, same lady clerk to ask for remote, she gave me one that did not work. I returned and obviously frustrated with me, gave me second remote and told me that it was sleep time and no more service would be provided to me. Day 4 evening: arrived at 10:30 pm and i saw office was open. Second room had not been serviced. I asked for coffee pouch replenishment and was told she did not have anymore not even apologizing. It appeared same person was the only clerk 24/7 during my 5 day 4 night stay. I never recieved any apology for the lack of accomodations. I will not recommend Motel 9 to anyone. That lady clerk needs hospitality training i would think. Stay was 1/21/2025 - 1/25/2025.

Great service, location, parking - horrid building
If you're in Austin to see a show at the Moody Center, this hotel is walkable, has FREE parking (most hotels charge $30-50 a night) and the family who runs it are very, very nice and hospitable. So when I say that the hotel itself has seen much, much better days, it's still a decent option if you just need a safe clean bed and parking. The building itself is in very poor repair. Some of the rooms looked permanently closed. While you could tell the bathrooms were cleaned regularly, the moldy grout, peeling walls and water stains told a different story. The carpet, walls, curtains etc. were in terrible shape. The fire alarm had been ripped off the wall, the hole plugged with yellowed paper towels. But the sheets were clean, the bed was comfy enough. And as the parking lot was well lit, and the family seemed to live onsite, I never felt unsafe. If I'm ever in town for a show at the Moody Center, traveling alone and just need a place to park and snooze, I would return.

Close to stadium; keep expectations low
We had 3 rooms. 215 and 219 had leaky bathtubs. The door to the 3rd floor room was open when we arrived. All 3 rooms had an uncomfortable smell (almost like clay). 219 also had a moldy shower curtain, two of the lights didn’t work and the deadbolt didn’t lock. The only reason we stayed there was that it was walking distance from the stadium.

RUN!!
This place was AWFUL! Toilets didn't flush, bathrooms were falling apart, stains everywhere and bed linens were ripped. Had to have room changed due to plumbing issues and never got the full attention of the property manager who was on her cell phone the entire time. This place should be condemned, I cannot believe it is actually in business. Hotels.com should not be listing this as a viable stay option.

Run down
Cheap but still not good value. I’ve stayed in many motels across the USA and this is one of the worst. Only stayed as I though it was better than sleeping in the airport… I was better sleeping in the airport… Sheets had rips in, shower head hanging off the wall and bathroom flooring disintegrating. Very loud noise from the road outside, exasperated by an antique aircon unit. Obvious it’s not been updated for 25+ years and looks it. Not worth anyone’s money.

Balling on a budget
The room was dated but you can tell it’s under new ownership and they’re working to make improvements. The pool is out of commission so don’t be fooled. But the location is really convenient and the woman in the front office was super kind and always available. I was a little shocked at first by the condition of the property overall, but it was safe and the stay was fine. I would stay there again if I ever was looking for a budget room.

The hostess was a very kind person and very understanding. Place was not up to parr. Too many roaches, when taking a shower the water would land outside the shower area, the room had several lamps that didn’t work, pretty okay place for the price to reach downtown Austin.

There are roaches, as soon as we walked in. When I went to try to cancel the rest of my stay she came in and looked and killed it, flushed it and then said well it was only on 1 bed, we can still use the other. We left got an embassy suites down the road for about $30 more a night, but it was a great big clean room and a wonderful free breakfast. Save yourself the headache and just spend the little extra for a clean safe room
