A clean and welcoming local hotel. Good facilities. Great value for money. We loved the cooked breakfast. Would def think of staying again. Quiet surroundings. Good facilities. Places to sit, enjoy the bar. We had a sofa in our room to relax.

2/10 Terrible

Really bad

Do not believe the photographs on hotels.com. The place is very run down and nothing like pictured. The furniture was filthy and had paint peeling, tiles were hanging off the wall in the shower, and the shower itself dispensed only ice cold water.

4/10 Poor

On arrival we were first told the chef had walked out and we wouldn’t get any meals! Then Emily and Janice stepped in and did evening service and a meal, then Janice came back and did breakfast in the morning. Overall a very surreal experience which was just ok in the end. I imagine most people would have complained and asked for a refund!

Best place to stay in the area

Very nice and clean room with attached bath in reasonable price. Our 4 day trip is finished after this and trust me this is the best hotel we stayed in. The owner was very nice and cane early in the morning to make breakfast and it was nice too. Overall I recommend to stay here and whenever i’m in the area I will definitely booked it again.

We had a lovely one night stay, using the hotel as a base for a walk into the hills above Ennerdale. The staff were really kind and friendly and the dinner and breakfast were excellent. It is great value for money and we would strongly recommend it.
