A beautiful property with a short walk to the beach. It was extremely clean and very quiet, we almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. Once we got there, we parked our car and used scooters or walked to everywhere we went.

What an amazing stay at The Sovereign! The room was super clean, spacious and the bed was comfy. Our host was nice and welcoming. The location is awesome, sale, clean, near shops and coffee but also, only 2 streets from the Santa Monica beach! Without any doubts we advise you The Sovereign!

This is not a hotel. With this daily rate this is a SCAM. There are long time tenants on the building. There is no AC so only option is to sleep windows open to street with cars and walkers all night, impossible to sleep. There is no cleaning (advised to take trash out to street dumpster), there is no housekeeping or changing towels. There is manager on duty 9am to 4pm. There is no teal lobby or any typical hotel amenities.

Very comfortable and great location. But the price is steep relative to what you’re getting, no check in desk so late arrivals are awkward where you have to call/text to get keys. And the lack of daily housekeeping is not ideal. But it’s a very comfortable stay, and the street parking permit is a nice touch for this neighborhood. I love it, but it might not be for everyone.

The suite we had was freshly decorated and furnished with good quality items. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. The cleanliness of the facility is obvious as soon as you enter the place. It’s not a normal hotel, more apartment suite complex — and so there are no on site amenities. We only encountered one member of staff at check-in, who was friendly, and apart from that we didn’t see any other staff. Upon check out there was nobody at the manager’s office or to answer the phone; not a problem as we’d prepaid — so we just posted the key back through the office door. I would definitely stay here again in Santa Monica as it’s one block back from Ocean in a very quiet area.

Huone oli siisti ja sänky sekä tyynyt erittäin hyvät. Mutta tiedoissa sanottiin, että on pesukone sekä astianpesukone. Astianpesukonetta ei ollut ja pesukone on jokin yhteinen rakennuksessa ja kolikoilla toimiva. Ikkunoissa puusäleiköt, jotka olisi syytä kunnostaa kaikilta osin toimivaksi. Kadulta alkoi hyvin aikaisin kuulua roska-autojen melua. Parvekkeella kiinteä markiisi, joka esti auringosta nauttimisen. Pahinta oli kuitenkin sisäänkirjautuminen. Olin kyllä ilmoittanut tuloaikani, jota vielä tarkensin lentokentältä lähtiessäni. Kukaan ei ollut vastassa. Pääsin portista sisään toisen asukkaan avulla. Sisällä piti soittaa päivystävälle henkilölle. Tympeä mieshenkilö sitten saapui paikalle. Hissi oli rikki ja viidenteen kerrokseen piti päästä kahden matkalaukun kanssa. Todella ärtyneenä ja vastahakoisena mies kantoi ison matkalaukun ylös. Sitten sain vain avaimen käteen ilman ohjeita miten lukot toimivat. Jos et ole tottunut amerikkalaisiin lukkoihin, yritä ja epäonnistu. Ovessa kaksi lukkoa. Ovi oli myös todella tiukka ja vaikka olisit saanut lukot auki, et välttämättä tiennyt olivatko ne auki, koska ovi ei liikahtanutkaan ilman suurta voimankäyttöä. Naapuri tuli ihmettelemään melua ja neuvoi onneksi ystävällisesti miten lukot toimivat. 17 tunnin matkustamisen jälkeen tuo oli lannistava kokemus ja jätti lähtemättömän vastenmielisen tunnelman kyseisestä majapaikasta. 480$ yöltä hinnalla ei mielestäni pitäisi joutua uloskirjautuessa tiskaamaan astiat ja viemään roskat ulos

Everything was great. The room was super clean. The bed was excellent. The sheets were excellent. It was great that there was a little kitchenette. The Wi-Fi was great. The TV was great. The only thing that I have to complain about is that there was no air-conditioning and it was pretty hot. I’m sure it was listed somewhere in the room listing, but it’s not really even something that I think about checking. I think that if a room costs more than $200 a night and it’s in LA it’s gonna have air-conditioning. Again, I take responsibility for this, but it is a downside to this property. Probably 80% of the year it doesn’t even matter. I would absolutely stay here again, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. Just be aware of that.

Our room was spacious and had a little ocean view and the bed was terrific. But the Sovereign is not more of an Airbnb than a hotel. There are almost no typical 4-5 star hotel amenities here. You get a decent room and that's about it. No restaurant, no room service, no bar, no lobby vibe, no pool, no spa, no concierge or real host service. Seems like this is an apartment building that is slowly being partially converted to short term rental use. And although they updated the room to make it look nice, they did not update the electrical wiring, so there are very few outlets and no place to plug in a phone charger by the bedside tables. Also, the wifi in our room did not work at first and some night manager dude had to come into our bedroom with my wife in bed in her nightgown and found that the wifi router had been unplugged. Still did not work after he left and I looked under the bed myself and saw that there was a second device that was unplugged. Pretty lame IMO for no one to have checked this before we checked in to the room at a place that is supposed to be high quality. For that, I expected a bit of good hotel service, so that was disappointing, and I would not have chosen to stay at the Sovereign (especially at that pricing) if I had known what it really is.
