We really enjoyed our stay at the Wyndham Grand Carvoeiro. The hotel was clean, modern, and the staff were lovely. It's walking distance to town, a really great rooftop bar, and a lovely beach restaurant. The only downside was that the hotel's website states that there is an adult pool. However, when there were kids at the pool we were told by staff that it's adult recommended, not adult only, and they were not willing to police it. If having a quiet, adult-only space is important for you as you relax, as it is to us, this may not be your best option.

Beautiful hotel, very clean, and the staff were great. One thing to be aware of: if you value privacy while sleeping, avoid room 204. The room is right next to the hallway used by guests on the upper second floor. People often walk by or even pause there to look at the pool view, and from that spot they can clearly see into the room at a very close distance. It led to several awkward moments of eye contact while lying in bed. Also, the indoor spa and jacuzzi were not working during our stay.

Lovely views and easy access to the cliff walks. The facilities feel new and staff is very accommodating. The pool was family friendly, but lap swimmers found time and space if they wanted. Only downside is the location; the walk to town is a bit long and hot - a shuttle would be nice a few times a day to maybe save a walk.

The hotel has been recently renovated to an excellent standard. Our room was immaculate, with plenty of space, a balcony with comfortable lounge chair, and the usual coffee table and two chairs. The adult pool was our preferred place - much quieter than the main pool. The breakfast as others have said has been excellent with plenty of choice every day. The a la carte restaurant is totally worth it. The food at the bar and the restaurant was also amazing even though we only tried a few things and spent most of our evenings visiting local restaurants - you will be spoilt for choice. Carvoiero has plenty of great options but also worth venturing further out to Portimão or Faro if you have a car. There is a 7km hiking trail right at the hotel's doorstep on top of the cliffs passing by beautiful coves, Benagil and a number of viewpoints. Make sure you wear proper shoes and apply plenty of sunscreen as there is very little shade on the trail. If you want to do it, make sure you have an early breakfast and make a start before 9 am so you can cover most of it while the temperatures are still manageable. The service was impeccable. We found all staff to be attentive, approachable and unobtrusive. Kudos to the bar staff and front desk who went above and beyond when we had a request.
