Zona Comercial
Zona Comercial is La Paz's lively heart, where pedestrian-friendly streets lead to colourful treasures. Marina Cortez and the iconic Esplanade Kiosk anchor this authentic Mexican marketplace. Traditional Baja seafood dominates the food scene, with open-air patios perfect for savouring fish tacos. Most attractions sit within walking distance, and local buses connect to other areas every 15 minutes. The central plaza becomes magical at sunset when families gather under palm trees.

A hire car is essential for navigating the steep streets and reaching city centre restaurants and shopping. Accommodation feature high-end holiday rentals and condominiums with private pools and manicured grounds. The quiet evenings are perfect for sunset viewing from your terrace, with only the gentle sounds of ocean breezes and rustling palms for company.

History buffs can explore the Anthropology and History Museum, while shoppers dive into the chili-scented air of Mercado Madero. Pastel buildings with wrought-iron balconies line cobblestone streets, creating perfect photo opportunities. Traditional cantinas and seafood restaurants serve up Baja specialities at prices that won't break the bank. Stay in boutique hotels housed in colonial buildings for a true local experience. The neighborhood's compact layout makes it perfect for walking, with the stunning Malecón boardwalk and Sea of Cortez just steps away.

Esterito
Esterito's waterfront promenade in La Paz offers a slice of paradise with palm-lined walkways and panoramic Sea of Cortez views. Watch pelicans dive as fishing boats return with fresh catches, or stroll past public art installations along the malecón. La Paz and related destinations
Between the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and the Sea of Cortez lies a waterfront paradise Jacques Cousteau once called 'the world's aquarium.' Kayak through turquoise waters where sea lions bask on rocky outcrops near El Coromuel Beach. The bustling Malecón promenade comes alive at sunset as families stroll past bronze sculptures and seafood vendors. Visit the Whale Museum before booking a boat to swim with gentle whale sharks (seasonal). Balandra Beach offers those perfect postcard views with shallow, crystal-clear waters and the famous mushroom-shaped rock formation. Orchid House Baja & Beach Club
"What a beautiful and relaxing resort! The rooms were simple yet well appointed. The ac was going the whole time since it was in the 90s during our visit. It was pretty quiet and worked very well. We loved hanging out on the patio and swinging on the comfortable hammock. The pool was perfect temperature. The beach was nice too. It was just too hot to spend much time there. Transport to town was easy and quick with our driver. The hotel helps arrange that. WhatsApp is the best way to communicate with everyone. Even to order room service. It was a great 5 days. Leaving feeling very relaxed. Thank you Orchid Hotel staff. You were all amazing."

- Be flexible with dates: Prices can vary due to factors such as the hotel’s location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates may help you save on your stay in a hotel in La Paz. For those in search of unique experiences, boutique hotels may offer a more personalised stay and occasionally better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer a more affordable option.
- Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but given La Paz's impressive public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located further afield that remains well linked.
