This is a beautiful property, set up on a cliff overlooking the ocean, and just a 5 or so minute walk along nice coastal paved pathways to the Ponte de Piedade. The main hotel is nice, the pools are large, and the sand pool is unique and was a lot of fun for our kids.
A few pros and cons based on our stay in one of the two bedroom family studios.
Pros:
- Unit had a full kitchenette which made cooking possible, which was important because there are not many dining options other than the hotel (expensive) around that area
- Unit had washer and dryer
- Blackout roller shades everywhere (although we didin't discover until the last day 😣)
- Nice L'Occitane toiletries
- Proximity to Ponte de Piedade and the coastal trails
- Proximity to a local beach, except it is a nudist beach so go with caution
Cons:
- Not much around the hotel itself. Lagos is a 20 minute drive away
- The apartment could use a restock in the kitchen. We didn't have 4 of anything including drinking classes, but made do with a mixture of glasses and coffee mugs.
- Very windy up on the cliff vs down in other towns that are more beachfront areas. Made it too cool to really lay out much
- Pools were cold. In combo with the wind they were hardly usable, even by our kids.
- Hot tub wasn't even bath water warm
Overall it was a nice stay and we enjoyed it. Not sure it would qualify as a five star hotel compared to US five star hotels, but definitely nice and kid friendly without feeling like a kids camp.
