The simple TV in our room was on too small a table and unsecured from tipping over. The armoire was almost up against the corner of the bed. I bumped it getting by and it fell on its face on the little table. I did not think anything of it and stood it up again and centered its feet as best as possible. When we returned from Mass after checkout, we were presented with a bill for 447.50 Euros ($703.00 Canadian). I googled the cost of TVs locally = 199.99 Euros for a Phillips. The clerk insisted the 457.50 Euros was correct. We got ripped off.

Do not book San Giorgio Hotel
I booked this hotel on May 17th and on October 13 I received an email from the hotel sayin they were overbooked they gave me the option to cancel they also said they would secure a room at another hotel. Since the timing was so close to our trip which is in a large cruise there was no good hotels available. Here is a copy of the email I received. In my opinion if you don’t book transportation from the airport from them they say they are overbooked then they accept bookings from those who want transportation from them. The hotel they put us in was horrendous I wouldn’t even rate it a one star. Why did it take them 5 months to realize they were overbooked. Hotel San Giorgio sent you a message: URGENT URGENT!! - HOTEL SAN GIORGIO - COMMUNICATION FOR ARRIVAL 21 OCTOBER 2024 We are writing this message as we are very sorry to inform you that there were an error in our room allocation/reservation system and on 21 October 2024 we are in an overbooking situation. Please kindly note that we do not have any other rooms available, therefore we offer you the following options: · to cancel your reservations free of charge as we are not in the conditions to honour the booking. Or · to accept the reallocations of your room in Hotel Mercure Sunbay Park - address Via Aurelia Sud, Km 68/750, 00053 Civitavecchia RM We are really sorry for what happened and attend your reply in order to find the best solution for your stay, Kind regards

Our shower had mould and was not very clean. The air conditioner did not work and it was HOT. We had a long trip the day before and didn’t get down for breakfast until 8:45, breakfast was from 7-9. We barely had time for coffee and toast and the girl came in and away all the food. Yes…our fault for being late after a horrible night in a non air conditioned room where the windows don’t open. But they didn’t hesitate to demand the €10 breakfast cost for a coffee and a slice of toast. The property is conveniently located near the town centre and the waterfront and a short walk to the cruise port.

4 Star Hotel that seems more like a 3 star
The San Giorgio is a 4 star hotel in the heart of Civitavecchia... so the expectations were high... this only lead to disappointment. The lobby looks nice, although very aged and old. The person checking in remained seated at their station the whole time, no personal level of check-in. The room was aged and not well maintained... wallpaper peeling off, holes cut in drywall to accommodate the door auto-close spring, dirty carpets and probably worst of all was the fact that in a hotel such as this, that provides a kettle in the room, there was no coffee amenities... why have a kettle if there is no coffee. When asked I was told that if a guest buys their own they can use it... then make the kettle on request... I see a large number of people staying here that are going on a cruise, so one night would be the extent of the stay... Overall the hotel does not appear to have been upgraded in some time and is now no better than most of the 3 star hotels in town... be aware before you book

We stayed here before our cruise. It has a great location and is clean, comfy, and the staff were really helpful and pleasant. Restaurants and the sea were right outside the door. It’s a hike from the train station and you’ll need a ride to the cruise ship pier for sure. Overall it’s a great place to stay. It’s not luxury, but it’s perfectly fine.
