One evening, when we returned, the door of our room was found unlocked. I immediately reported it to the staff on duty. He asked me if I closed the door when I left the room. OMG! I told him we left at noon and the room was cleaned in the afternoon. Thus, it was obvious that the door was not properly closed by their staff. I requested him to check CCTV if any one had been entering the room. From his reaction, I didn't believe he would do that.
The next morning, I reported to the staff on the front desk again. I told her I trusted the hotel staff but not every guests of the hotel. She was astonished and apologized for what had happened. She said this was very serious and she would check the CCTV herself immediately. It seemed to me that the man on duty in the previously night didn't put this in the log book and he left the case undisclosed. (I wished it was not.)
I really feel thankful for her prompt action and proper handling of the issue. But on the other hand, the man in the night shift has to be re-trained. He was asking a silly question and was trying to mis-lead the guest to think that the guest did not shut the door properly. He was also assuming that the guest was wrong in the first place!
