Convenient location... short walk from Long Island RR Great Neck Station, numerous bus lines, places to eat and convenience stores. In-house restaurant is excellent, but menu is high-priced. Hotel needs major updating... lobby is Ok, but rooms/hallways are in need of overhaul. Carpets need replacement. Bathroom is 1950s/1960s vintage. Heating/AC worked but were noisy. Location near train/bus offset by noises from traffic late into night and early in morning. Beds were Ok, not great... but pillows were comfortable. Reception and cleaning staff (Maria) were friendly. A bare minimum free breakfast, but Tasha, the attendant was very nice to all guests. The room key encryption device was unable to encrypt room keys, so we spent the first night and next day asking reception to accompany us on the elevator to open our room. For unknown reason, housekeeping was able to get us room keys on the second day. Room safe was also not working, so we had to take our valuables with us when leaving the hotel. Hotel advised us we could get better rates using online booking services like Trivago. They could not match the lower rates via direct booking. The hotel booking would have been $50 higher than online.
