The room felt so cozy, it felt like a home away from home especially when compared to the sterile hotel rooms commonly found when traveling. We loved staying here. They have a full self-serve bar that's entirely free, plus breakfast in the morning and snack in the late afternoon; all free! And there are tons of really lovely places to lounge and relax in. Definitely would stay here again if we are ever in Amsterdam. Also, the location was excellent. It's right next to several of the museums, and it wasn't more than a 25 minute walk from anything we wanted to see.

We had a really lovely stay and loved the townhouse concept of this mid range hotel. Such a lovely open approach to looking after guests. Perfect location within easy access to buses to and from the airport and trams to virtually anywhere. Great concierge help with restaurants and perfectly chosen to our requirements. We would definitely return. The free access to all day and night drinks and cheese and meats in the afternoon and evening were a fabulous bonus. My only small niggle was my solo room was a bit smelly on occasions and the bathroom could do with an update. But as we probably booked the last two rooms in the building - I am not at all upset. Just thrilled we stayed here after a last minutes change.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Jan Luyken. The whole vibe is friendly, without being intrusive. The idea is to use the hotel as if it's your own home. Once you check in, everything is free for the taking--coffees, drinks, snacks, cake, whatever is out. There are varied places to settle--the dining room, the library, the lovely garden. Our room was very large, with a lovely bathroom and a great bed. I was traveling with a broken leg and they couldn't have been more helpful, even putting temporary grab bars in the tub to make it safer for me. One small quibble--there were multiple lamps, but the bulbs were so low that I could not have read a book in there. Decor is quirky, but fun. The location is great--five minutes' walk from the Van Gogh Museum, a couple more to the Rijksmuseum, seven minutes to a great canal ride (thanks, Captain Jack!), and close to many nice restaurants. Everyone on the desk could not have been more warm and helpful. Loved this place!
