Beautiful town with an amazing amount of cafes and bars which are all totally relaxed. Only thing to learn is the bike and car rules. Very simply they have right of way on the cobbled roads. You need to stick to the pavements.

Haarlem is a great alternative to Amsterdam. Lovely old city, close to the bulb fields and a short railway journey to Schiphol and Amsterdam itself.
