When I checked in the women said she was putting us on the 21st floor and asked if that would be a problem. That caught me off guard because I have never stayed in a hotel with so many floors before, but I joked, "I mean there are elevators, right?! So, we should be fine!"
Oh, how wrong I was. For the duration of our time there, 2 of the 3 elevators were out, so ANYtime we wanted to go anywhere it was a 20-minute wait for the elevator or walking 21 flights of stairs. We were never actually informed of the issue by hotel staff, so the first night I actually missed a reservation because I waited for an elevator for 27 minutes before giving up and going back to my room, because I didn't want to risk going down the stairs and not being able to take the elevator back up.
Now, I understand that things break down and sometimes there is no control over that, but what upset me was the staff's response to the situation. When I first called down to report the issue, and anytime I asked about it the rest of the weekend, I was met with very apathetic, unsympathetic, almost annoyed response from the staff.
This really did have a negative impact on our trip and did effect some of our plans, and I would be more understanding about it, had the staff been more apologetic or solution-oriented about the whole situation.
