Lantau Island is where you’ll land at Hong Kong International Airport, otherwise known as Chek Lap Kok Airport. Once you step outside of the airport, some of Hong Kong’s main attractions are waiting for you to enjoy on this island. Hong Kong Disneyland, one of the top reasons for families fly to Hong Kong, is on Lantau Island’s northeastern peninsula.
Tung Chung, on the northwestern coast of Lantau Island and just south of the airport, is where you can start on your scenic Ngong Ping 360 cable car ride from. It’ll take you up and over green and misty mountains in the island’s western highlands. This is home to the Po Lin Monastery and the Big Buddha.
