Beautiful Hotel, great location, common areas loaded with ambiance. Our room was adequate, bed comfortable and clean. It had no style, or quaintness you might expect. Bathroom was recently redone and very nice- low water pressure. We had to call for face cloths and robes, and they were delivered quickly.
Breakfast (buffet) was great and a bit pricey ($49 CAD per person). Room service would probably be more reasonable. As far as getting a drink at the bar - forget it. The is a limit to the room with a young woman trying to manage the crowds that accumulate. Also, no drinks before 5, so plan to go to one of the places nearby. Oh, and no coffee before 7 am.
The biggest problem is the bell staff - they are hidden away and not very helpful. We arrived at 10 pm at night, pouring rain and no one to be seen. Our taxi driver didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak French. Finally, a guest pointed us up the cobbled path and up the stairs, so we dragged our bags and checked in. Front desk doesn’t have bell staff to bring your bags to the room either, so off we went. Same issue when leaving, we didn’t call for bell staff to take our bags down since no one helped us to the room. When I said something to the bellman at the desk he couldn’t have been less helpful - in fact he pointed out all the things we did wrong. For the cost of the rooms, I didn’t expect this level of none service from the people that start and end your stay.
