Pretty welcoming hotel, room for improvement
Welcome was lovely, room was really pretty with nice touches, pretty noisy though, you'll be lucky to get a solid nights sleep. Breakfast wasnt great either sadly. Overall though it was a lovely, pretty, welcoming hotel for a single night stay.

Good room but breakfast let it down
The room itself was lovely, very comfortable and clean. There was alot of road noise which if your a light sleeper can be an issue. We had an evening neal which we really enjoyed and service was great. What let it down for us was breakfast, lack of service and basic items missing from the table like milk for coffee, jam, butter etc. The menu for breakfast was varied my husband had a full english which he enjoyed but all I asked for toast and a croissant. The toast was rock hard to the point i couldnt eat it as i was only given 1 portion of butter, the croissant was nice but i would of liked the option of jam with it. While eating breakfast staff were sat on a laptop at the bar rather than checking on guests. It was just the simple things that let it down for us, such a shame as we picked it for all the good reviews they had.

The food in the gastropub was truly gourmet - outstanding and delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ambience was very charming.
Our room was small, with an adequate bed. The stairs were very steep, but as expected in a 15th century building. The carpet in the rooms and stairs need updating, but all in all, our stay was very pleasant.

Very friendly and committed staff - we really enjoyed our one-night stay at the property. The room was spacious and well-appointed, with a good choice of drinks and breakfast available in the restaurant. We would certainly come back when in the area.

Staff need training on hospitality skills
The staff were not very accommodating and pretty miserable most of the time. Food was cooked well but service let it done. Room was very nice as was location.

Had a great night stay here, good was ok too. Clean and comfortable and really attentive service.
The only downside is the noise from the road through the night / early morning there seems to be a fair amount of lorry traffic going by which is very noisy.
Tea & Coffee facilities in the room but no milk which we had to go and ask for (not ideal when you want an early morning brew)

Centrally located pub for getting to nearby towns (Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Broadway and Stow-on-the-Wold). 10 mins walk to Batsford Arboretum or drive if you don't want to walk up the hill on the way back. Good for dogs, bridleway path 100yds away. 24hr garage nearby. Its owned by Butcombe, a great brewery! Enjoyed our stay and the food is pretty good too!

Enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay at the Horse and Groom . The room was lovely and spacious and cleaned to a good standard. The pub has a lovely large beer garden for drinks and food. We ate once and the food was good . Breakfast was included in the room rate and was also good . The staff were friendly and helpful . Lots of lovely villages and towns are nearby but a car is needed. Would definitely stay again.
