I had mistakenly thought this boardinghouse was close to the Old Bridge in the historical Old Town of Heidelberg, so was very disappointed to find when we arrived that it was very close to the new bridge that connects Bismarckplatz to Neuenheim. It turned out to be an advantage, though, as there was a huge city fest happening that night and it would be very noisy by the Old Bridge. So we walked 20 minutes and could get away from it all. This location is very convenient if you need to get to the Neuenheimer Feld campus of the university, and is a 6 minute bus or street car ride from the main train station. You are two minutes walk from Bismarckplatz, which is the transportation hub of Heidelberg. There are also grocery store options a few blocks away from this building so you can stock your kitchen and prepare meals there. We were very attracted by the free use of the washer and dryer in the basement being halfway through our 3 week travels through Europe. The building was renovated a couple of years ago and our apartment (Friedrich) was attractively furnished by IKEA. Warning: there is no elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage if you are staying on the fourth floor!
