No thanks!
Unfortunately I had little time to shop around for somewhere else to stay for my trip to Bruges as everywhere was getting booked up quickly, I found the hotel, saw there were few rooms left, quickly checked the photos and star rating and hoped for the best ..my logic was A £300 3 star hotel can't be that bad.. cant it? Later that day when I had more time I read the reviews and researched the hotel properly. After reading reviews ,I discovered the 3 stars advertised were really 2 stars, and the reviews were not good at all. Lots of negative reviews ,numerous mentions of bedbugs ,dirty rooms ,dirty bathrooms etc.. With the risk of potential bed bugs I decided not to stay there and requested A refund ,the hotels.com staff did what they could but the hotel refused to give me my money back. An expensive lesson ,and admittedly my own fault for rushing in. The idea of sharing our bed with bugs and infesting our home on our return put us off completely.

We checked in at around 10 pm and they asked me for US$60 for coming in late ,plus another $20 for taxes all had to be paid in cash, no receipt. Every other hotel will leave the key and instructions to get in, Will not recommend this place.

I would not recommend this property. We found bed bugs during our stay, fortunately we were only staying two nights and saw them on the second night so did not have to rearrange. Could not tell the owner/manager as apart from when we checked in there was never anyone at the desk. Tried to contact the hotel after our stay but never received any response. Expedia also attempted to contact with no luck. I would have expected at least an apology for the conditions, so rude and extremely poor service. The hotel is also pretty run down, very expensive for what you get. The location is the only good thing, very near the centre.

After reading the reviews, we were apprehensive over our stay. Our first impressions was that it was a direlict home, but someone’s home non-the-less. The person on front desk explained the family room had bed bugs, therefore they had given us two bedrooms right at the top, it was a trek (and we are a healthy fit family), 6 flights with narrow steps. The gentleman helped me with my bag. This was the last we saw of him. Having stayed for 3 nights, we can see what others have commented on. The rooms we had (only ended up using the room with the toilet and shower) were small. The shower can only be described as a portable shower that has been fitted into the room (rather than a shower room), it was small. But had good strength and heat. The room was not very clean (squashed gnat marks on the walls). Floor was rather dirty (thankfully we brought our flip flops. Only a fan, no other facilities (like tea/coffee). We only used the room to sleep in at night. The beds were comfortable, but on the last night, we did not have the fan on and my son was bitten by gnats and what looks like lots of little bites (possible bed bugs). Would I book again, most likely not. The only real positive was the location. Very central to everything we needed.

DONT STAY HERE!!! Extremely over priced stayed here for 2 nights and the first night was kept up to 3am with young people shouting and running about with no staff to be seen to keep them quite. The building had very thin walls and was very old with the stairs extremely steep and nearly falling apart. Bed had bed bugs in and have come home with lots of bites all around my body. Only good part was the positioning of the hotel other than that it was a shocking stay for the price. Pictures look so much nicer than it actually is and there is not restraint or breakfast

This property was not up to standard. The desk was not staffed at all, the linen was worn and had stains, doors to the bathroom wouldn’t close, the shower and towel rails were falling off the wall. There was mould on the walls, broken door handles, curtains didn’t cover the window. Pillows were uncomfortable and the contact number did not work. Location was the only good thing, but that’s because Bruges is a walkable city. Would highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Do not book this hotel!
I strongly advise to avoid booking a room in this hotel. Absolutely below any standards. Hotels.com shouldn’t be promoting this hotel in the first place.

Despite reviews citing thin walls, we did not experience that. Yes, you can hear other guests, but only if they were talking loud or coughing, etc. The stairs are steep, and the steps are narrow. There's no elevator, but that's part of its charm. Nice room, with a good mattress, instant hot water, nice shower (the height adjustment was missing, but not an issue for me). One of the two large windows opened fully, allowing us to get chill night air while we slept. Not much of a view, but we didn't care since we were not in the room much. Very clean, but no daily housekeeping. I'd stay here again, especially considering the host changed or room to the nearest at the top of the steps due to my wife's knee condition.

We booked last minute after an issue with our original accommodation. When we arrived the door was locked and nobody answered the phone for about 30 mins. When they finally answered we were told that the hotel didn’t work with hotels.com, but that they could provide a room for cash. I said that we wouldn’t be paying again at which point the owner became very rude and hung up the phone. Ended up staying at the lovely Hotel Rosenburg. Avoid Hotel Cavalier at all costs!!!

Location was excellent - all the main attractions on your door step Breakfast was nice plenty choice and coffee/tea good Only downfall was we had requested a twin room and got a double - had to pay extra when we arrived only to find we got given the same room back they just separated the bed and said they would never have given a twin room for what we had been quoted to pay On a plus side room was clean/ shower was great and staff very pleasant

A typical Bruge city centre hotel
A nice hotel in the centre of the Old City within easy walk of the Christmas Markets. It is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good and plentiful. A good night stop over
