2/10 Poor

This property is basically abandoned. There is no staff other than 1 person at the front desk. There is no pool staff or pool bar amenities. Rooms did not look stayed in for a really long time. Gate to beach was broken and looked like a Jail Cell. It was a very scary experience and we cancelled right away. I was disappointed that the hotel kept one night deposit of our reservation for an abandoned property. I would not recommend anyone staying there!!

2/10 Poor

I've had better experience camping on the beach...
The worst two night stay. Stay away, I would have rather camped out at the beach. Got better service from the breach vendors then hotel staff. A we first entered the hotel, the entire building had a foul smell, sewer-like, in the hallways, in the room, in the lobby. When mentioned to the staff, they frowned and dismissed us like we were making it up. We asked to be moved to another room, the smell was so unsettling. As for the continental breakfast advertised, it consisted of boxed cereal and boxed juice. Coffee was cold, set in a little corner of the lobby, when an entire kitchen and seating area laid un-attended to. The best thing of the three day trip, was the walk around the island and the boat ride across the channel.

Has great potential
The hotel is located on a beautiful beach. Nice enough. There was no hot water. No restaurant open. Could not get a coffee, breakfast or lunch. Could not buy a beer or wine to have by the pool. I was the only person there and I think the lack of amenities is the reason why.

Very Nice hotel on beach
I like the fact this hotel was not in the city of Mazatlan but easy to commute. There is little shuttle cars and foot boat that made the commute very easy. More so than in Seattle WA. The staff and the room were great

Great value & ideal for a quiet getaway
I went there for a 5 day vacation. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants a quiet and relaxing vacation. Stone Island is its own little world next to Mazatlan. However, if you want to visit Mazatlan, you can simply take a boat ride. The only slight complain was that the wifi only works on the first floor. It's also complicated to access the nearby hotel Estrella de Mar. Aside from those 2 points, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Mislead by reviews
We booked here with great expectation based on reviews we read. We were excited to arrive. What wasn't mentioned in reviews though were what shocked us. For starters, a taxi from the airport to the hotel will put you back $500 pesos. We arrived at the hotel early, and were thankful the staff allowed us early check in. 3 days prior to us checking in, I received an email that the pool was down for yearly maintenance. 3 days didn't allow us time to find another hotel, and we were not offered any financial enticement based on this. The staff spoke little English, despite their website saying it was bilingual. We arrived in our room to a beautiful view of the ocean. We stayed in their premium suite, and the view was worth the extra few dollars. However, little else did. Our bathtub took multiple hours to drain after only a 10 minute shower. We had art work missing the first night that reappeared the next over head of the bed. Although travelling from out of country, we were informed that we would need to purchase beach towels as the hotel would not provide towels as they did not want to wash sand from them. Frustrating. We also went our first night to have a dinner at around 5 in the evening to find all restaurants closed at 4:30pm due to lack of electricity. Not a big deal if we were informed and weren't guaranteed multiple things to do during the day and night. After our first day, we spent as much time as possible in Mazatlán, away from our hotel. Extremely Dissapointed.

Pleasant surprise
This was our first time to Mazatlan and booked this hotel because we could not get into our timeshare on the first 2 nights of our vacation. Took the boat to the island. (The people were awesome in helping us find our way there). Checked in late and woke up to peace and quiet. The bed was a harder than I am used too, but not unbearable. Hardly anyone on the beach in the morning. Went down for coffee and was surprised they had room service. Coffee delivered. Went down to the dining room for breakfast and the service was excellent. Food was good too. It is right on the beach and it was good to see where the locals go for a break from the big city life. Enjoyed dinner and drinks outside on the big patio area, had our choice of seating. Service was very good. WI-Fi was somewhat spotty when trying to use a Visa card. Patience is the key and not be in a hurry. We would definitely go back and stay

Small, clean hotel, right at edge of beach.
This is a small friendly hotel, on the south shore of Mazatlan. It is self contained, with a bar, restaurant, swimming pool and covered area adjacent to the outdoor bar. All overlooking an excellent swimming beach. I found the staff very friendly, and would go back again. A ferry ride will take you into downtown Mazatlan, where buses are available to see the sights of Mazatlan.

Stone Island Mazatlan
Hotel was right on the beach. Excellent for anyone worried about high blood pressure . Fast run from the airport . Rest. service was slow and breakfast was cold . But there are many local restaurants steps away that are excellent . If you are pressured out at work and have only a week away , then this is the place for you . Steve R

Interesting Journey
This hotel is off the beaten track. It is beside the ocean. Keep in mind that only half of this road leading to this hotel is paved. There are no street lights either on this road. The other half (17 km)is dirt and unlit. We got there at 8 p.m. local time and the sign outside wasn't lit and so we missed it and had to ask for help in Spanish. The little bar closed at 9 p.m. next to the pool and the restaurant was closed as well. We stayed in the room with the king sized bed. Bring your hair blowdryer with you as one isn't provided. We enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant the next morning and then left. FYI: This is a 2 storey hotel and there is no elevator. You have to carry your luggage up the flight of stairs. There are no pop machines either. Ask at the bar or restaurant.

Great hotel on an island with a awesome view
This hotel was great. Has a restaurant in the hotel that only services the hotel guests. Has a real chef on duty and has room service for no extra charge. You can rent 4 wheelers on the beach, or a kayak. You can also get a on a inflatable banana and get pulled by a boat. You can also rent horses and ride down the beach. To the right of the hotel are other restaurants. To the left is nothing but wide open beach that has nothing but miles of walking without seeing hardly a soul. The hotel staff is very friendly and speaks English. I spent a very pleasant 10 days there. Downside is you will have to pay 550 pesos for a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Lots of Canadians and Americans around the hotel in RV parks. If you like beaches with great views and not crowded, you will love this spot. María Coral Hotel will be my next vacation spot again. Quite and safe.

Good time during holiday season
We spent holidays with my parents, 3 rooms in total; hotel and staff were really friendly, we enjoyed it, very clean, food good, it is located far from the city if you are driving, better to take a water taxi to the hotel which last 5 min.

Great place.
Off the beaten track as others have mentioned, but easy enough to take the water taxis. Room was extremely clean, and they give you two bottles of water per day. Staff in restaurant/bar were extremely good, and always had a smile on their face. Great hotel.
