Old Town Split
Step into ancient Rome while standing firmly in the present inside Split's Old Town. The UNESCO-listed Diocletian's Palace forms the heart of this living museum with marble streets winding past Roman columns and medieval additions. Peek into the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, explore underground cellars, or simply watch local life unfold in buzzing squares and courtyards. Traditional konobas serve fresh seafood and Dalmatian wine in centuries-old stone cellars throughout the district. Boutique hotels and apartments within palace walls offer unique stays in converted Roman structures. This compact, pedestrian-only zone invites exploration, while the adjacent Riva waterfront promenade connects you to island ferries and city buses.

Bacvice
Bacvice's iconic sandy beach is where Split locals and travellers unite for sun-soaked fun. You can join a game of picigin (a beloved Croatian beach ball game) in the shallow turquoise waters or lounge on the shore with views of Diocletian's Palace. The palm-lined promenade buzzes with energy, connecting beachfront cafes to nearby attractions like the Port of Split. Waterfront tavernas serve fresh Dalmatian seafood while beach bars transform into lively nightspots after dark. Most accommodation offer sea views from modern apartments or boutique hotels just steps from the shore. The area shines with excellent walkability—just a 10-minute stroll puts you in Split's historic centre.

Varoš
Step back in time through the cobbled lanes of Varoš, where 13th-century stone houses with cheerful green shutters whisper tales of old Split. Ancient steps wind towards the fragrant pine forests of Marjan Hill, offering breathtaking Adriatic views through medieval archways. The Church of St. Nicholas stands sentinel over intimate courtyards where locals go about their daily lives. Family-run konobas serve up fresh seafood and traditional Dalmatian dishes in this walker's paradise. Accommodation options include charming stone apartments in historic homes, where you'll experience genuine Croatian hospitality. With limited vehicle access, comfortable shoes are essential for exploring this authentic area where modern life flows gently around centuries-old foundations.

Meje
Meje's coast treats you to postcard-perfect views of the Adriatic and nearby islands. Stroll along seaside promenades past traditional stone villas, or soak up the sun at Kaštelet Beach and Kašuni's pebble coves. Pine-scented cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop for swimming in crystal-clear waters. Marjan Forest Park offers hiking trails for when you need a break from beach life. Upscale seafood restaurants serve fresh Adriatic catches on terraces with spectacular sunset views. While hotels and holiday rentals tend towards the luxurious side, they deliver on Mediterranean coastal elegance. The area is best explored on foot or bicycle, with limited bus connections to Split's centre just 20-30 minutes away.

Firule
Split's Firule neighbourhood offers attractions, including Trstenik Beach.

Ancient Roman ruins form the living heart of this coastal gem, where locals sip coffee in cafes built into 1,700-year-old walls of Diocletian's Palace. The UNESCO-protected old town buzzes with life as shopkeepers and residents occupy spaces where emperors once walked. Bacvice Beach offers crystal-clear swimming just minutes from historic marble streets. Game of Thrones fans recognise filming locations throughout the city, while the Croatian National Theatre provides cultural evenings after days spent exploring. Take a ferry from the bustling port to nearby islands for day trips, or climb the bell tower of Saint Domnius Cathedral for panoramic Adriatic views. The seafront Riva promenade transforms at sunset into the city's communal living room.

Amphora Hotel
"A modern hotel with fantastic amenities and great potential, though it falls slightly short on maintenance and upkeep. The highlights were easily the pools and dining. Having both an outdoor pool and a large indoor lap pool with gorgeous sea views was a major plus. The spa area was great—especially the sauna and cold showers—and the breakfast spread was fresh with plenty of options. A special shoutout to the omelette chef, who was exceptionally engaging and did a wonderful job every morning. However, the property is missing a caring touch when it comes to the details. The steam room was out of order during our stay, there was peeling paint on the bathroom door, and small holes in the curtains. Housekeeping was also hit-or-miss; some days were fine, while on others we were left without clean mugs or received a cracked drinking glass. Overall, it's a pleasant property with friendly staff, but a little extra attention to maintenance and consistency would take it to the next level."
Cornaro Hotel
"The hotel is in a wonderful, central location....short walk to everything we wanted to see in Split. Buffet breakfast was fantastic, staff were all pleasant and accommodating and the rooftop bar/pool/hot tub were a great change of pace after busy days touring. The room was modern, very clean and comfortable. We'd highly recommend this hotel."
Galeria Valeria Seaside Downtown - MAG Quaint & Elegant Boutique Hotel
"This is a small quaint hotel near all, it was clean, only complaint was that the bed was uncomfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was ideal, it is near everything in walking distance to the marina and old town, restaurants etc."
Sunday Residence and SPA Split
"Very good complementary breakfast. Comfortable, quiet and spacious rooms."
Divota Apartment Hotel
"Great location, under 5 minute walk to the old town but still quiet area. Some rooms have a washing machine, drying rack and even a balcony. Aircon was extremely quiet. In room 702, water leaks into the room when it rains heavily, also water leaks outside the bathtub."
Atrium Hotel
"We had a lovely week long stay at the Atrium. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a modern very spacious and clean room, including a large bed and wide screen tv with app connectivity. The location is on a busy main road but we were not disturbed by this and it was a straightforward 15-20 walk into the Old Town. The breakfast self-service buffet offered lots of choices but it was best to get there early for the food to be at its freshest. Some unfamiliar but tasty food choices. It would be helpful for the hotel to add labels to items that are not obvious and to mark different fillings of pastries for instance … although we actually enjoyed the surprise!"
SPLIT CITY ROOMS
"This is a clean, centrally located place to stay. No coffee maker on site but air conditioning and bathroom was great 😃"
Hotel Kastel 1700
"I had wonderful stay and staffs are so nice and helpful, especially Mijo, he’s a great guy and so thankful to him. The hotel location is perfect to everywhere. Also right next to the meeting point. See you guys next time!"
Boutique Hotel Luxe
"Walking distance to restaurants and city wall . Nice little hotel and good breakfast. Clean and friendly atmosphere."

- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find better rates for your stay in a Split hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and could offer more appealing value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we can suggest alternative dates that may help you find a more favourable rate.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but with Split's excellent public transport links, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that is still well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative locations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
