Harbour Hotel Southampton
"Promised free shuttle to ship but no shuttles available paid for cab ourselves when hotel should have paid for it"
The Elizabeth House Hotel
"Lovely hotel good breakfast clean room staff friendly and helpful would definitely recommend this hotel and we would book it again for another trip"
Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa
"The hotel staff at the reception were very helpful and so welcoming. However there was one member of staff in the laundry room who came across like she couldn’t be bothered helping when I asked her for a clean towel for the swimming pool area because the one she pointed me towards smelt really damp so I wanted a clean one and she just ignored me so I helped myself. The hotel- the cleanliness was not great. The room was quite outdated and the bed sheets had this damp smell. My daughters had a foldable bed and their mattress sunk in when they slept on it so they could literally feel the bed rail underneath but because we were just there for one night and it was late we didn’t complain. Breakfast was good it was a buffet style and had a good variety. Overall, we had a nice stay for the night as we used the swimming pool too. However, I wouldn’t return due to the lack of hygiene/cleanliness. The damp smelling sheets and towels really put me off 😑"

"The room smelt surgically clean when we arrived but we soon got used to it! It was quite small but you get what you pay for and beds were super comfy. Parking was £12.50 for the day. It's very close to the retail park and West Quay shopping centre, and high street shops. If you want somewhere cheap and clean I would recommend here."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Southampton
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Southampton is during January, February, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a budget-friendly getaway, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended to fully appreciate the city's historical landmarks, cultural institutions, and natural parks. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich history by exploring museums, enjoying local theatre performances, and taking leisurely walks around the marina, all while benefiting from great value for money during this period when prices may drop.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: You may discover attractive hotel deals in Southampton by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com. For travellers seeking last-minute getaways, the Last-Minute Deals option might present discounted rooms near your travel date. You could also use the Smart Shopping tool via the app, a comparison feature that helps you assess prices and amenities to make an informed decision. Enabling email alerts or push notifications may keep you updated on flash sales and last-minute opportunities, increasing the chance of securing a favourable deal.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary according to factors such as the hotel’s location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in a Southampton hotel. For travellers seeking a unique experience, boutique hotels might offer a more personalised stay and sometimes even better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially find a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels nearer to the city centre typically tend to be pricier, although Southampton’s excellent public transport connections mean you may find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well linked. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could offer a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
