The Coach & Horses Hotel

"Absolutely lovely hotel, possibly 1of the best we’ve ever stayed in, from checking in to checking out, nothing was too much trouble. Emma on reception was so friendly, helpful and chatty, really made us feel welcome. The room was spotless. We had food in the restaurant in the evening, then breakfast the following morning. Food was absolutely delicious and again all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Definitely be back ."

Holland House Hotel Cardiff By Sunday

Holland House Hotel Cardiff By Sunday

8/10 Good
"Parking not included, have to book and pay using Just Park (limited spaces). Only the gym appears to be free, the pool and spa need to be paid for. Queen room was large with a nice deep bath. The room felt a little tired; minor holes in curtains, carpet not in the best condition, bath robes rough on the skin. Only 3 coffee pods in a room for 2 people which was a bit odd. I was staying alone so it was okay for me. Additional instant coffee on a tray in the cupboard. Toilet roll thin and poor quality, maybe because the plumbing doesn't cope with thicker paper? Toilet roll holder wobbly and coming away from the wall. Overall a nice enough room but felt expensive at £125 a night (Saturday) with parking costs on top plus having to pay for swimming pool."

Park Plaza Cardiff

Park Plaza Cardiff

8/10 Good
"I’ve been staying at this hotel since 2010, and it’s always been our go‑to place when visiting Cardiff. We’ve loved it for so long that even our now 11 year old looks forward to staying here. The staff are consistently helpful, the location is ideal, and the facilities have always contributed to a really enjoyable stay. However, this is the first visit where I’ve felt the hotel is overdue for a refurbishment. The rooms and bathrooms are showing their age, and the spa facilities in particular need attention. The changing rooms look very tired, and the rainfall shower experience is barely functioning. One additional point, although not the hotel’s fault, is the walk from the city centre. The area now has a large number of homeless individuals, and while I understand the complexity of the issue, it did make the walk back feel uncomfortable when I was alone with my son in the late evening."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Bridgend

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly months to visit Bridgend are January, April, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. This duration allows visitors to appreciate the charming landmarks, such as historic castles and local theatres, as well as enjoy the picturesque natural parks and the welcoming atmosphere of the small town. With careful planning, you can experience all that Bridgend has to offer without breaking the bank, as prices may drop during these off-peak months.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com may offer appealing options when searching for best Bridgend hotels stays. Begin by checking the DealsOpens in a new window section, where discounted rates for Bridgend hotels could be available. You may also find attractive last minute offers in the Last-Minute Deals area if your travel dates are near. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool on the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see competitive offers and opportunities to save.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on various factors, including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, having some flexibility with your travel dates might help you find a better deal on your stay in a Bridgend hotel. For those in search of a unique experience, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised touch and occasionally offer greater value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, assisting you in your quest for a favourable rate.
  4. Consider your location: Remaining closer to prominent attractions or city centres may offer greater convenience, yet it typically comes at a higher cost. For more affordable rates, you may wish to consider hotels in less central neighbourhoods, balancing price with ease of access to the places you intend to visit. You might also explore independent hotels further afield, which usually tend to be more affordable while providing a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
