"The location was ideal, just a 5 minute walk to The Hoe, easy walk to The Lido and the Barbican, 20 minutes from the Train Station, the room I stayed in was small but adequate for what I needed, they no longer do Breakfast but there are a choice of places within a 10 minute walk, bed was comfy and a selection of teabags and coffee in the room, these aren’t always replaced daily but if you ask at reception they will give you some, would definitely stay again if I go back to Plymouth especially for the price."

"Everything about the hotel and staff was perfect. The only thing that we had issue with was the parking arrangements. Our Expedia booking included free parking, but apparently parking is only guaranteed when booking directly with the hotel. Expedia were not transparent about this. Hence, on the first night, we had to park on the street and pay £14.40 for five hours...waiting for an allocated hotel parking space on a first-come, first-served basis to become available."

Copthorne Hotel Plymouth

"Absolutely fine. Close to centre and walking distance from Home Park. A bit faded decor and no air con in the room but fans provided. Decent breakfast. Parking was a bit of a nightmare as on the day of my arrival the doors to the underground car park had broken and I had to route via Sainsbury's car park risking a fine but thankfully the hotel staff managed to override the parking database and it appeared to have worked. Generally all was good and I would recommend and use again."

Invicta Hotel

"This is a great little hotel despite it being very old and in need of some repair in places. The staff were great and couldn't do enough for you. The room was small but clean and had everything we need in it. The shower looked old but was very powerful and easy to use. Breakfast was very nice and there were plenty of options. It was a great location for us as we got to explore the Hoe in the afternoon and then it was a short walk to the theatre in the evening. This is a great place to stay if you don't mind something that isn't quite perfect but is friendly, helpful and clean. We will return again on our next visit to the theatre,"

"Only issue that I can mention was the fact there was no one at the pool reception when we went for our first swim. A guest had to show me how to access. Consequently I went into the members changing room then when I eventually spoke to a girl she informed me I should not be there but to go to the other changing room. Had to ask for a tag. 2nd day no problem and helpful staff. Breakfast amazing It was my birthday and they gave me a little gift. Will definitely be going back"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Plymouth

  1. Book for the cheapest times: Plymouth is a destination offering great value for money, especially when visited on a budget. January, February, and November are particularly appealing, as hotel prices may drop during these months, making it an affordable option. For a comprehensive exploration of the city's landmarks, history, and culture, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is ideal. During this time, visitors can immerse themselves in the region's friendly people, diverse maritime heritage, and significant historical attractions such as churches, the marina, cathedral, monuments, and other culturally rich sites.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Plymouth, begin by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounts on hotels as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on flash sales and unique last-minute offers. Additionally, Smart Shopping is a valuable tool available on the app that allows travellers to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you’re more likely to see the best options. This way, you’ll be informed about any changes in availability or pricing for your preferred hotels, making your last-minute getaway easier to book.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate due to various factors including the hotel’s location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, having some flexibility with your travel dates could help you find a more favourable rate for your stay in a Plymouth hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you find a more appealing rate.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive, but with Plymouth's superb public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that is still well connected.
