The Crooklands, BW Signature Collection

10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was clean fresh and inviting & the staff were all lovely. We ate lunch there (both had Cumberland sausage & onion roll which along with the chips were piping hot and a side salad. For dinner my husband had gammon - again piping hot. I went for a smoked salmon & prawn salad (asked for no Marie Rose Sauce). I wondered if it would be quite small - it was a large portion & a fab salad after dinner coffee was good & again piping hot. Despite being in the countryside the hotel served about 65 covers Excellent hotel"

Stonecross Manor Hotel

8/10 Good
"The room was clean, but in need of some TLC. The lights did work, when the receptionist was told she came fiddled with the light bulbs, eventually they came back on. Once turned off they would not come back on. Very much felt that was an issue the hotel knew about, but had not fixed. The staff at breakfast were not welcoming. When the breakfast came the bacon and black pudding were not fully cooked. The sausage was poor quality and very peppery. Rather disappointing. Will not be staying again."

If you're interested in a more distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a personalised touch and could offer attractive value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher end, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer a more competitive rate.
  4. Consider your location: Opting to stay nearer to major attractions or city centres can offer convenience, though it usually comes with a higher price tag. For more affordable rates, consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between cost and ease of access to the sites you wish to visit. You might also explore independent hotels further afield, which can often provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
