The Hotel is a beautiful expression of modern and traditional design and architecture. We stayed in the deluxe king room (because they were so booked up), and for one of the smallest rooms, it was huge with sitting area, full couch and a walk-in closet with vanity that is almost as large as the sitting area. You can literally put 2 king size beds in the closet and have enough room to walk around. The room is immaculate and demure at the same time. No over the top, ornate decorations. Just very tasteful and extremely high quality build and amenities. The feel is modern Japanese with vertical slated wood paneling and soft thick carpeting. Solid wood furniture, all high end from the equipment and bedding to the tea and coffee. Everything about this room drips with luxury.
The service from the time you exit the car till the time you enter the room is truly exceptional, but not snooty or pretentious. Every staff member we encountered were so gracious and gregarious. And there were so many staff members at every corner of the hotel. Most of all, they sincerely expressed pride in the service they provided, and offered candid opinions. We really enjoyed talking to the staff and sharing their stories.
The only drawback that we encountered were some snooty, entitled customers who seemed to take for granted the exceptional service by the staff. As it is a 5-star hotel, some visitors seem to have lots of money, but sometimes, not enough class. But that's not the fault of the hotel.
