The Rambler was affordable and one of the only hotels in Tsing Yi. It lost points for cleanliness. I don’t mind old and certainly don’t mind outdated hotels but cleanliness cannot be missed. It was so bad I had to request for a new room. Check-in was a long wait. When first entering the room, you get hit with a nasty smell. Then I looked at the toilet, walls, fridge and realized it hasn’t been cleaned in a while. The dirt build up was strong. The sheets were surprisingly clean. The towels felt like they were washed a million times and lost the nice feeling. After I requested a new room, they showed it and had me decide before making the switch. I was immediately hit with the same smell but at least it was cleaner. We had to cram 3 people into a “king bed.” No worries though, we were just there for 1 night. The staff were very nice and they were amazing. It’s just the facility itself needs better upkeep. I think better humidity control will help the smell.
