We had a beautiful suite with everything we needed and the hotel provides a free shuttle to anywhere you like in Franschhoek. This includes the wine tram and restaurants nearby.

Wonderful staff. They deserve a big pay increase .!
I am sure all guests would feel much happier and pay a little extra if the hotel advertised it had a pay policy of paying the staff on the lowest incomes 50% more than the normal rate.

Beautiful location with Villa accommodation. Short distance to centre and to meet Tram for wine exploration.
Reception organized a driver to take us to vineyards of our choice as we only had an afternoon to explore them. Went above and beyond.
Thank you.

Quaint stay in the wine country…
Beautiful property. Gardens were the best feature. Needs some updating. Loved the staff. Good food. Tennis court and jacuzzi needed updating. No yoga or pilates classes. Load shedding is real, interruption of power. Bring electrical adapters

Above expectations. Most enjoyable and relaxed
An excellent Hotel that exceeded our expectations. Very quiet and peaceful with very pleasant and cheerful staff.
Website was not helpful as to find the restaurant menus it was easier to go to them. Swimming pool seemed a bit small for such a large hotel. For some guests it may be a bit far from the village centre.
Already looking forward to returning next year.

Spectacular breakfast made up for the cold shower
Having stayed here in the past we were familiar with this beautiful property, its picturesque location and range of amenities so we chose to stay here again.
Unfortunately there was no hot water when we tried to shower before bed and due to the location of the geyser (in the upstairs unit) it couldn’t be sorted until the morning. We were offered a room in the main hotel, but as it was late and we’d unpacked all our luggage so we opted to have a cold shower instead. The hotel graciously comped the meal of our friends who joined us for breakfast to make up for the inconvenience.

Forgotten item- stolen
I would have given this hotel 5 stars. We loved it and the staff were wonderful. My mistake was leaving an expensive item
behind in the room. I have contacted the hotel and while assured they would respond they haven’t. Sadly this has tarnished the experiences.

Dissapointing
An unfortunate experience. Got the impression of a hotel in decline and a management taking little ownership of the issues. We - and others - lived next to a generator running 24 hours that kept the tranquil vineland experience safely at bay (!)

Communication issues
Having emailed the hotel prior to our arrival specifically asking for a one bedroom villa but not a ground floor one and definitely not Nos 72 or 73. We arrived and we’re booked into 73 ground floor villa. Told could not change as fully booked despite 4 being available on their website.
The villa we eventually stayed in was ok but a little tired.

Sadly, a hotel that’s past its best.
We stayed here last year and thought we’d give it another try this year (we felt it was very average last time) and sadly this time we were disappointed all round. The reception we received on arrival was indifferent as was our check-out, not even a, “How was your stay”, or “Where are you off to next”. Our room was tatty (extractor fan missing in bathroom, carpet loose at edges and decor generally chipped). Other guests who were there and had been going for years also had the same comments.
We won’t be returning as there’s plenty of quality accommodation in Franschhoek where they welcome and treat guest as individuals rather than just another room filled with a fee.
