A good place for short stays
Hotel is a bit out of the main CBD, but not far to good restaurants & cafes. Service was good, the towels were changed daily , which is not really necessary for just one traveller. Bed was very comfortable and a variety of pillows to chose from. The room itself needs a bit of attention, it is pretty old and some wall paper is peeling off walls.

Nice comfortable hotel.
Nice hotel. Ashliegh, the receptionist was amazing with her professionalism and friendliness. Sorted out all my enquiries. The room was clean and comfortable, perhaps a little jaded.

Cashless was a problem for us
Frustrated that on-site Restaurant meals could not be charged back to the room. Also, they (hotel, plus on-site restaurant) did not accept cash.

Rubbish Wifi.
Shower was very average looking. Windows didn't shut properly. Doors slammed and rocked walls from neigbours and I could hear them coughing, and worst of all the wifi was totally rubbish - unusable. Won't stay there again.

2/10 Poor

Moldy, damaged and uncomfortable
The pictures of this hotel were a little misleading. Our first room had black mold all through the bathroom. The shaver plug had a big crack in it, the bathroom light switch wasn't functioning properly, and the shower door hinges were about to break. The bed was very uncomfortable, and you could feel the wires in the mattress. There was flaking paint in the room and damage to corners. Overall, the hotel was in a state of disrepair. We were upgraded to a better room. This was in a better state, and the bed was more comfortable, however there was still black mold in the shower.

The mattress was at least 30 years old, rock solid with the springs poking through. We couldn't sleep and both woke up exhausted with horrible neck and back pain. Fame was missing a leg as well. After complaining we were shown 3 other rooms where 2 had broken bed frames as well. The shower was dirty, the shower door hanging on its last leg and not closing properly, a screw sticking out of the shower, paint coming off the wall, the mirror delaminating, the heat pump not working and the bathroom shelf swelling up. The good was the staff was nice helping us out, especially Phillip from the night shift who fixed the heat pump and gave us some duvets to cover the springs of that horrible bed poking into our body. I don't understand how this can be a 3-star hotel! It is so run down and they don't even fulfill the requirements for the 3 stars. The sister hotel states on Google they have 4 stars. I asked at reception and they said they only had 3 stars. The same condition is in the rooms at the sister hotel. After we had seen the other 3 rooms we asked for a full refund, which they did. We went to Naumi and had an amazing stay:)

8/10 Very good

Conveniently located just a short walk to stops for local bus lines and near good restaurants and shopping. A slightly longer walk, but still doable, to attractions like the waterfront and Te Papa museum. Staff were helpful and friendly. The biggest downsides were the noise - the hotel is near some very loud bars - and the cold temperature of the room. A small space heater didn't do much to help. Aside from those issues, the place was comfortable, if a bit run-down. All things considered, I think it was a good value.

For a 3-star property this was not too bad. Apart from a little delay of rooms being ready, check-in went smoothly. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional but also down to earth. It’s central location was perfect for walking the central city. The rooms were spacious and clean, beds were comfortable and warm. The bathroom was small but plenty of bathing, facecloths & floor towels. The water pressure was perfect with excellent heat. The 5 of us all enjoyed our one night stay in 2 rooms for $390 inc taxes. Thank you Mercure Abel Tasman. Hope to return again when we’re in Wellngon again
