The check-in process was very slow, after a 28 hour flight to Abu Dhabi, that the reception could not find my reservation, having trouble tracking down Hotels.com ref number etc. The hotel staff were very nice and upgraded my stay which was a good gesture. The local calls were not allowed from the room, and you cannot even charge them to your room, so you have to physically go to the reception, pay upfront and make the call from your room, which is inconvenient. Also, you cannot charge restaurant costs to your room, so have to pay every time after the meal. Nowadays, these expenses are allowed to be charged to the room, which makes the stay more convenient and you pay them off all when you check out. I guess this approach has not been adopted by this hotel yet.
