Not the Meridien
The Meridien has had a change of ownership. It is old, a bit dated, rather expensive for Copacabana but nice. The restaurants and bar are all very expensive and really not worth it. They keep the place clean and it has a great view of the beach. Make sure you get a high floor facing the beach or your view will be terrible.

Nice hotel
The hotel is close to the local airport Santos Dumont and to Rio International's Airport (it's the closest) Very well located and nice service. It's perfect for business and it's the one I use when I stay in Rio.

absolut urlaubstaugliches Hotel in Top Lage
Das Hotel bietet einen guten Service, ist sauber und in einem guten Zustand. Die Lage ist mit direkten Zugang (über die stark befahrene Straße) zur Copacabana optimal. Sicher für Kinder bedingt geeignet, was aber nicht zuletzt auch an Rio liegt. Ansonsten handelt es sich natürlich nicht um ein Clubhotel sonder eher Businesshotel und dafür sehr zu empfehlen (ca. 45min. vom intern. Flughafen mit dem Taxi).

Expectations
When I booked the room online, the room type said ocean front for the Deluxe standard. A higher room availability was not listed. The view was side view of the beach, houses, and ocean located near the front of the hotel. I paid extra for ocean front. In my understanding ocean front is looking straight out at the ocean from my room window, and being able to view the beach from my left and right.
