A very unique property, with a mish-mash of quirky rooms and buildings combined to make a hostel. The price is great for what you get. No concerns with cleanliness or bugs (it IS a humid environment, in the South, so I was expecting at least one or two roaches or lizards, but there were none, even outside in the courtyard/common areas).
The only issue we had was our lightbulb went out one evening. The staff didn't tell us that we'd have to be present for the maintenance guy to come replace it. So, we left for dinner for the evening and came back late that night to it not being fixed yet. Had to use a flashlight we had brought i
order to see in our room. The next day, we asked the same staff person when it would be fixed, and THAT'S when she told us we needed to be in our room when maintenance comes. She sent maintenance right away, and the issue was fixed (although she did not seem concerned with the lack of communication about the rule).
Otherwise, it was a fabulous stay: budget-friendly and less than a block from the streetcar line into downtown. Would definitely stay again!
