Sixth generation family inn. Owners are warm friendly folks. Stayed two nights. Lucky enough to have enjoyed the Wednesday night music in the pub. Generous breakfast and wonderful dinners and drinks. Lovely bar ladies in the afternoon/evenings. Will stay here again.

Really cute little Irish Pub with rooms over top. Rooms are older but cute and comfy. Lots of traffic so a bit load but it was fine. This is not a Hilton so if that’s the type of place you want this isn’t for you. It’s a travellers stay kinda place. Good breakfast and we really had fun chatting to locals in the pub.

We were lucky enough to stay a Wednesday evening when local musicians come to play in the bar. It was a fantastic experience to sit smack in the middle of the musicians and the singers that were in the audience, singing Irish songs a Capella. Wonderful experience, and it was great to just walk upstairs after closing and go to bed. Room was not spacious, but very appropriate for our needs. Dinner of lamb stew was great as well, as was breakfast, with plentiful choices. Mike and team were wonderful hosts. Easy access for a daytrip to the Dingle Peninsula.

Great craic.
Lucked out. We stayed on a Wednesday night and that's the one night of the week the locals come in and play traditional Irish music. Michael and Mary are wonderful hosts and their breakfast host was wonderful too. Yummy food. Great craic. Gerard and Sue from Australia

We loved Larkin's Pub! It is older but very clean. The staff is amazing! So friendly and helpful...I just can't say enough about how welcome they made us feel. We used it as a jumping off point for the Ring of Kerry and it is well situated for that without the busyness of Killarney. We were out all day so did not take dinner there but the breakfast was really good!! And they pulled a good pint of Guinness!

2/10 Poor

Even though the Inn keeper was nice, the room rate was outrageously expensive for the room conditions: dirty, loud from the street, bathroom outdated and tiny with no basic clothing or towel racks, and extremely hot.

This stay was not a good fit for us. If you are a light sleeper (I am) or suffering jet lag I would avoid this property unless you have eye masks and ear plugs. A few things to keep in mind if you’re going to be traveling through Ireland and stopping to stay at Larkins pub. First, it’s on a busy intersection and it’s noisy so when people are leaving pubs or driving through the intersection you hear the noise throughout the night. Next, window coverings don’t really minimize the evening light coming through-it was rather bright in the room. Finally, this is really the only place to eat in town so if you don’t arrive prior to 8 pm you are out of luck. With the proximity to Killarney, we would have been better off staying there. The pub and room was not as “charming” as we had hoped (we were really looking forward to this stay). Plus if you can’t sleep, and you don’t want to disrupt your sleeping family, there is no where to go to sit.

The host was very helpful getting us parked and upstairs, also when we had shower questions. Our waiter for breakfast was lovely and very helpful as well. All in all it fit the bill for a cheap place to crash and a hot shower. Thanks for the stay!

Disappointing Wild Atlantic stop
For Wild Atlantic Way travellers, you’d be better off in Dingle or Tralee (also more options for dinner). The room was warm and clean. However even though it states you’re on a main road, the windows do nothing for sound proofing so there’s constant traffic noise. Fixtures and fittings are old and worn and the place in general doesn’t seem to have been updated since the 70s. No shower gel/shampoo/etc provided. Breakfast was adequate though the choices limited. The young man who served breakfast was friendly and chatty and looked after us well. Compared to all other B&Bs we’ve stayed at on our 10 night Wild Atlantic Way trip, this is the only one we wouldn’t return to.

Your Choice to Stay After Reading
The B&B is above a pub and restaurant right on the main road from Milltown to Ring of Kerry. So it was a bit noisy until midnight. Soap or shower gel was not provided. When enquired we were told that they don’t provide it and directed us to the SPAR store down the street. We booked a triple room. Only two long towels were provided. One of the face towels provided was dirty. The heat stopped at some point as the controls were not working. The shower switch need some repair as it takes quite a bit of force to operate. The breakfast was okay and the host for breakfast was friendly and attentive. That was a positive. Owners need to get an idea about other B&Bs in Ireland as this was the only B&B I would be providing a negative review.
