6/10 Okay

The Grand is in the heart of Halls Gap, within walking distance of walks and other facilities.
Dave, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

Basic facilities but reasonable for the price. Was in a great, central location - walkable to absolutely everything. Rooms were small bit we had access to a kitchen and living room with a free billiard table. Bert accommodating and friendly staff also.
Mark, 2-night trip

8/10 Good

The location is exceptional, within walking distance to all Halls Gap shops, cafes, bars etc. You can also walk to Venus Baths, through the Botanical Gardens, easily. The Grand Hotel has seen better days but it looks like it’s revival is a work in progress.
Colleen, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

Because bushfires could not attend but motel and Wotif never got back to me even though got in touch motel wk before and have audacity to still charge cancellation fee, I won’t be going and tell friends stay clear of both these places
Peter, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Location is great. Property is 2 star with renovation works required. Old furnitures and bed is of metal frame so should be upgraded.
Salim, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Good value for money, priced well and reasonable during NYE. No insulation from noise but managed fine.
Ben, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

I liked everything
Sharna, 2-night trip

6/10 Okay

Very close to town. Good value. No TV. Spiders and webs on windows. Convenient easy checkin. Had Wifi.
Ellen, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Lenore, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Bedroom and linen were in ok conditiin , no privacy curtain on bathroom , limited toiletries, dirty carpet ,no reception staff to reach out even during the business hours , just ok to stay if you dont find any other place around

Good
David, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

The place has had no maintenance for many years. It is currently under liquidation.
Kathleen, 5-night trip

6/10 Okay

The place was run down, no one there from what I could tell. The room was OK ie, clean & comfortable. WIFI was OK but the TV didn't work properly.
Wendy, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

Thought the old QLD style building was different and quaint. Building is going under some extensive Renovations. Would be nice to see them completed in full. Some hooks in bathroom and maybe bedroom would be good.
Debbie, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Would never return. Property totally run down and rubbish everywhere around the property. Owners need to clean it up and show respect to the beautiful town
Jo, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Room was clean, however there was no toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom.
Vlad, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

One of the worst places we have EVER stayed. Run down rooms with just about everything in sad disrepair. No sound proofing between rooms so our amorous neighbours treated us to hours of wall banging & grunts. The bathroom was abysmal. This place needs to be knocked down not renovated

4/10 Poor

Underwhelming. No onsite staff. Communal kitchen good idea but not advised there was one. Confusing. Name on building does not match the name of the accommodation booked.
Elizabeth, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

While the first 2 nights we stayed there was great we ended up leaving the 3rd night as the noise was getting out of control and people were banging on the walls and doors. When telling the manager he just disregarded it and when asked for a refund on the last night he refused as he said we knew it was a pub and it’s our own fault we stayed there. Great place but won’t stay again
Chloe, 3-night trip

6/10 Okay

Old world charm needing care.

It was a contactless stay. Did not see any hotel staff. Towels from previous guest were left hanging behind bathroom door. Bodywash dispensor in shower was empty. Stains on carpet in bedroom im front of cupboard. Fresh towels were clean. Room was tidy and clean and had been renovated at some stage. Building was old and not fully maintained. Adequate fir one nighr
Betty, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Clean bed and bathroom, good Wi-Fi, easy checkin. Reception not before 8am. Nasty underneath the bed (rubbish, dust). No TV. You hear every voice from the other rooms. Shower not working properly (almost not at all). Very old and old-fashioned. Just not nice.
Ivo, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

Old and rundown, rooms were dirty, Capet dirty, never vacume and cleaned. Venetian blinds dirty, bathroom plug hole dirty. Steps unsafe wood rotting, it would not pass any OHS inspection it a wonder no one has fallen on rotten steps without rails.
Helen, 1-night trip

2/10 Terrible

The room was filthy, no guard rail on the top bunk, no milk, no soaps shower still had soap scum and toilet was dirty! Very disappointing
Kim, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

The property is in a great location but not maintained well. There was mould everywhere and carpet were not cleaned for a long time. I ended up getting allergy during my stay. The staff are not available on site and the only contact is a mobile phone which rarely gets people caked up. In terms of safety, the accomodation is on the first floor with no security. However on the positive side I was able to get a good deal but as an afterthought good deals sometime are too good to be true. Overall I would give it a miss.
Latha, 3-night trip

8/10 Good

The Grand is a rare find for visitors to Halls Gap, particularly those who are travellers. It is characterful, fabulous location, very good value for money, with budget and low priced options, in the centre of town, set among trees, with kangaroo viewing a certainty. Some rooms have a fridge, and there is aircon available. There are two shared kitchens, with brand new fridge/freezer, oven/hob, microwave, toasters, kettles, & basic equipment. One can eat or sit outside the kitchen in either covered or uncovered courtyard decking. Also excellent coffee and cold drinks available, with seating in aircon area or on the verandah, looking out to trees filled with native birds. The proprietors are friendly and will give local knowledge. Give it a try - it is not like your soulless motel option, nor our of price-reach like hotels. It is under ongoing renovation, so don't be put off by the works in progress. It will end up a true gem.
