8/10 Good

We enjoyed our stay. Everything was great other than the breakfast which could have been better.
Lan, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

We had a great meal and a great stay here. The property is quiet with a nice stream running thru. Excellent meal at the restaurant, and the friendliest, kindest staff you could ever have. Thank you.
Brian, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Friendly staff which seems to be a common trait for Iceland. Cabin was small but extremely clean and bright and comfortable. Same for the bathroom. Included breakfast was served in a very pretty small sunroom type restaurant. The breakfast was of high quality although it didn’t have as many choices as we saw other places. I don’t think there was any hot entree. Overall we were happy with our stay.

4/10 Poor

Guesthouse was clearly old but maintained. Ordered two single bed rooms and got a double room. Heat wasn’t working at the time (manager told us that they checked it and it was working). Rooms are very small and hot water runs out quickly. Breakfast was meager, some bread, fruits, veggies, and cereal. A bit overpriced in my opinion.
Catherine, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Room too dark. No TV in the room. Bathroom too small.
Chan, 1-night trip

Gord, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Cozy cabin that was very clean and beautiful property, too bad it rained the entire time of our visit. Had supper at the restaurant and it was excellent, also enjoyed the fresh baked bread for breakfast.
Scot, 1-night trip

Quiet cottage

The cabin was surrounded by fields of grazing sheep. Beautiful setting! The room was very comfortable and clean. Great breakfast.

Sheep and Serenity

The property backs up to a butte with adorable sheep grazing and 2 minutes from a famous canyon. It is peaceful and beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast was perfect and light. A very pleasant experience 10/10 recommend.
Autumn, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Stayed one night here and loved the vibe & feel of the cabins. Staff were friendly & courteous. To top it off, I got to witness the start of Iceland’s ‘réttir’, which was truly amazing. The breakfast, however, was continental and basic compared to other hotels I stayed at during my 17-day trip to Iceland.
Christian, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Amazing country farm experience. The cabins are cozy, the staff is friendly and helpfull. The diner was expeptional (lamb).
William, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

Very nice little wooden houses. Simple but nice and cosy.
Horst, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Charming cabins but overpriced. There's better value elsewhere.
Akash, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

The cabins we’re comfortable and located on an idyllic setting. The dinner was phenomenal (we had the lamb). It was the best meal on our trip! The breakfast was included and was cold choices but delicious. Would highly recommend!
Denise, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

The cabin was really cute and clean, pretty new condition. the bathroom is tinny. The staff was super friendly and their restaurant was very good. The lamb was so tasty, it was from their home raised sheep. Enjoyed our stay!
Guoyu, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

The entire property drips rustic charm. Cabins are spotless and comfortable, and the main breakfast area is very clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed 2 nights and used this property as a base for exploring this part of the country.
Amie, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Hunkubakkar Guesthouse is an absolutely little place where you will find adorable cabins to stay in. They are located in a meadow with trees around it, a field of sheep nearby and the sound of a small river/creek. The staff are all so kind and polite. I stayed in a triple room, which had three twin beds, a small bathroom and a table with chairs. The shower is quite small and someone slightly larger than me would have a very difficult time entering it. That being said, the rest of the cabin was super nice. There are a few outlets (three that I recall) in the main room. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. There were cereals, milk, juice, coffee, some bread, yogurt and meat and cheese. Something a little more substantive would be a great addition. I had dinner at the restaurant and it was quite good. I chose the three course meal with asparagus soup, lamb and apple cake. All were delicious! Highly recommend this adorable cabin style stop!
Brandy, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Great staff but room didn’t have any ventilation. Some mosquitoes around. But good cozy stay. Rooms are extremely small but great peaceful location.
RAJESH, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

We stayed in a triple. It was so cute and clean. Tiny bathroom. Slept well. Breakfast was lacking and not great but we loved our cabin! Great location after our glacier hike headed back towards Vik.
Regina, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

This property is a little way off the Ring road, but very quiet. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice. They do serve dinner there, however we did not eat at the guesthouse.

10/10 Excellent

Clean, cozy and no nonsense check in. Breakfast was delicious - fresh, chilled, sliced tomato. Bread, cheese, orange juice . . . . Great stay!
Laurie, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Idyllic location and great restaurant

We have a wonderful stay at Hunkubakkar Guesthouse. The location is wonderful, across from what appears to be a working farm and just down the road from a gorge you can visit. We had a beautiful cottage that was clean, warm, and cozy. The best part of our visit was the dinner we had in the restaurant attached to the guesthouse--the best dinner we had in Iceland: local lamb, fish, and all three delicious desserts! The location was beautifully idyllic and we definitely want to return.
