If massages and hot tubs are your thing, you might want to visit Taupō Hot Springs in Hilltop. If you have fun at Taupō Hot Springs, you'll love Spa Thermal Park and A.C. Baths, both located nearby.
Soak in steaming geothermal pools or brave the thundering Huka Falls for an adrenaline rush. Cruise pristine Lake Taupo, spotting Maori rock carvings before casting a line for trophy trout.
This was so much preferred to tourist areas nearby. The locals were so helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the lake and could still do all activities without tourist prices or craziness. Loved the scenery and atmosphere. Best stop of trip.

The Lake front has been extensively upgraded and felt very vibrant. Great place to wander as far as you like, or stop for ice cream, coffee, win or food, so much choice. Love the mini golf on the front, clean and friendly.

Huka Falls is a must-visit, always, try to make time to walk there is possible. Two Mile Bay Sailing Club is a newer addition in an ideal spot. Great food, perfect location, ok service - friendly, but not on top of things.

Lots of things to see and do in Taupo. We have small kids and the train and playground was great for them.
"Very comfortable Hotel, bed was comfy with nice linen and great towels in the bathroom and nice underfloor heating in the bathroom also. Food in the restaurant was delicious.

"Awesome place to stay. I was at the 2nd level, last room on the left. Very nice view of the lake and the ice mountain. Clean, private and comfy. They have bed warmers and both mounted and portable heaters. "
"Room very clean & tidy - light didn’t work but staff sorted with no issue & in short time frame. Bed comfortable VG linen & towels. Not top class but very good value for money- 4 square & cafe across the road & easy walking distance to town & lake. Wi stay there again"
"This is such a great place to stay.We keep coming back. Had beautiful lakefront unit for a very reasonable price and there’s a heated pool as well as a tennis court. Plus the extra bonus of being able to use all the Millenium facilities and dining options next door is great. The location is quiet and lakefront walking track is on your doorstep. "
"Lovely well appointed hotel with great views and lake access. The pool was so warm and the hotel had everything needed for luxurious stay. Thankyou to the welcoming staff, would definately recommend staying at Reef Resort."
