"Beautiful hotel lobby and very friendly staff. Location can be a challenge to get to if the roads are snowy. 4WD / snow tire or chains a must in winter. "

"Beautiful cultural experience. Having your own onsen and choice of the public onsen was very nice. We did not think the seiki breakfasts and dinner were worth the astoundingly expensive price. I would next time not book the meals, exorbitant cost at nearly $300 each time"

"Stayed in the suite as we had 6 people on this trip, including 2 younger children. Children thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Dining options were solid and most of the customers were local. This place specializes in hot spring baths, which are the main attraction. Most everything else will require a car to get around for."

"Very friendly and accommodating hosts. They prepared us an amazing 4 course meal for dinner and a beautiful breakfast. We played games after dinner and they helped with suggestions about what to do in the area. "

"The service and attention to details were top notch. The owner/manager was very helpful and with his help we were able to go to Kamikochi by public transportation even though it was closed. We really wanted to do this so his help was much appreciated. We did not have breakfast but the dinner was very good and served by these nice attentive ladies which we really enjoyed. The ryokan is more traditional which worked for us in the remote mountains. The view from the spacious lobby area was very...

"What an amazing and special place. This hotel is the best of East meets West. Japanese charm and service with Western comforms. The hotel is truly beautiful and it feels like you're staying in someone's home. The property is quiet and comfortable and we'll maintialed. Everything had been thought of here from the amenities to the curated music. I almost didn't book this hotel because of the shared showers but don't let this stop you! Each room has a private sink and toilet and comfortable...

"We loved our stay here. It’s a traditional ryokan that feels straight out of the 70s with gorgeous furniture and rotary phones. The rooms are a good size with comfy mattresses. The location is good, only a short distance from the train station. The onsens are great and often empty so you get them to yourself. The staff speak limited English but are helpful and friendly. "

"We had a wonderful stay. The owner was more than accommodating by allowing us to check in later than 11pm. He also gifted us with a free bottle of wine from a local winery.

"If you are looking for an easy access to the mountains at a good price it is the place to go. The room was very clean and the mattress very comfortable. We had a room w/out bathrooms so we used the common bathroom and it was very clean and organized, they provided you with towels, shampoo, conditioners and soap like any hotel bathroom would. They also have a laundry room where soap and dry sheets are available to be used for free. The only down size for me was the internet in my room was on and...

"We were very happy with Lift Inn Hakuba. Our room (room type C) was clean, cosy, warm and had a beautiful outlook. Nico was helpful and went above and beyond to meet our needs. Would recommend to anyone wanting the convenience of having the slopes of your front door. We also enjoyed the quaint surroundings. "
