Super pleased to say that the Via Inn was a very pleasant surprise. If you’re new to Japan then understand that hotels here are quite small and Via is no exception. Aside from a small desk with a chair there was nowhere to sit other than the bed. Fine with me. The bed was very comfortable - firmer than average with a nice comforter. Only one pillow to begin with but I was given another when I asked for one. The ac worked as advertised, as did the separate air filter/humidifier. No closet space at all - just a wall-hung rack with a half dozen hangers. The bathroom was small but clean, and the water pressure and temp were great. No view at all from window, just the outer stairwell of the building next door. Clean hallways/elevators. Very pleasant staff at front desk - two gentlemen who helped me with the self check-in. A bit odd - I’ve not seen self check-in/out before - worked fine. Front desk staff actually had to help find my reservation when the kiosk couldn’t. The neighborhood is neither great nor awful. Ten min walk to Shinjuku Station. The Via Inn Shinjuku was clean, safe, affordable, comfortable. I recommend it and would return if alone. Couples/families might want to book a larger room though."
