Lots to see in this typical seaside resort. The hills certainly give the calves a workout! Great fish & chips, check. Nice harbour, check. Stunning views, check. Arcades, check. What more do you want? Ok, how about, the abbey and Bram Stokers seat?

Whitby is a fantastic town. Medieval cobble Streets and a great beach, not to mention the beautiful Abbey. Ideally located for the national park, stunning scenery and georgious coastal villages to visit. We went for Goth Weekend, not to be missed.

A beautiful and magical place with the sea on one side and the moors on the other. The perfect place to escape real life and just enjoy the nature, quaint cobblestone streets and local delicacy.

Whitby is great, but it's not all about Whitby. It's about outdoor centres-North Yorkshire, Moors and much more. Great for children and families as well as couples.

My girlfriend and I would seriously recommend visiting the Abbey and nearby church and going on a boat tour out to sea from Whitby Harbour and back again. We thought that "Trencher's", opposite the railway station, served the best fish and chips.

Whitby is a superb fishing town with an incredible amount of gothic history. It is now quite commercialised but it still retains its charm. It is quite hilly but the beach is flat so depending on where you're staying you can walk on the beach.

Great place, good views, good restaurants. Good pubs, many with entertainment available. Cons, too many irresponsible dog owners (I tripped and fell over two on leads across a shop entrance, and my colleagues also had near misses).

Loads to do in local area, had the most amazing fish and chips at Magpies Cafe. Around £40 for a family of 4 eating in great service too. The abbey was a must see too!
"Fabulous staff on booking in .. only thing is lift out of order and was on 3rd floor ... refushised room was great sea view xxx going agian in november already booked "
"Great peaceful place with beautiful views. We were well looked after and the owners made it possible for us to check in and use the room before our official check in time which was really helpful. Breakfast was lovely. "
"Lovely big clean spacious room. Comfortable bed. A shower with plenty of hot water. Free wifi & within short walking distance to the beach & into Whitby town. "
"Great food, high quality service. Unfortunately, despite staying at one of the most expensive suites, treatment and spa slots were not reserved or offered so we missed out on treatments due to no availability. In addition, the orchard suite, which was recommended for its privacy felt a bit like a basement, and its outdoor bathtub was overlooked by the suite balconies above. "
