Lovely place. Lovely sea breeze, good night life, good shopping, great pier and fairground. A great place to have fun, action, enjoyment. Eating places on the eastern side end service at 8:30 but more activity around pier area. Arcades, bars...

Excellent
Unlike some coastal British cities, Southend is still a thriving place full of shops, restaurants, people and things to do.

The location we stayed in was lovely as it was a nice quiet area, but only a 20 minute walk from the pier etc.

Southend was fine, though I was there midweek and it was pretty quiet for any sort of nightlife.

Needs more choice of restaurants from different countries. Nice pier walk;
"Lovely hotel, and a good price for the facilities. There was a wedding in the hotel, and I am pleased to say the late night music didnt travel.
Good breakfast selection, being constantly replenished including GF options. Very handy as a stop off on the way to France. £6 overnight parking charge, but was very secure.
I would stay here again"
"Excellent stay, breakfast was lovely, also had a veggie option for full English. Bed was really comfortable I slept better there than I do at home. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Evening meal was delicious. As previous reviews have said it is a little dated and worn in places, but it felt like the seaside b&b of yesteryear. We will definitely visit again."
"Delicious breakfast options.
Very much liked the availability of ironing facilities on every landing.
Comfortable stay in peaceful seafront location."
"Loveley size room but very dated. Bathroom was very shabby. Enjoyed sitting by the lake having a drink. Loverly hotel by the lake but in massive need of updating."
