Hotel Franziskaner
10/10 Excellent
"Simple but clean and comfortable. Great location for exploring the Old Town and nearby walking trails. Friendly multilingual staff. Nice complimentary breakfast."
"Overall: 90% positive experience, would stay here again
The good:
The room was clean and the heated bathroom floor was quite nice after a cold day walking outside.
The views from this property are quite lovely.
The restaurant is very well appointed in traditional wooden architecture (if you like that, which we do).
Breakfast has a good, though not massive, selection.
The staff were quite pleasant.
The location is very central.
The less good:
We were kept up late at night due to partying that could be heard in the middle of town nearby.
The elevator is very very small.
The hotel was kind enough to give us a room with a kitchen (which we did not ask nor pay for) but then informed us of a 60 CHF surcharge PER DAY to use it. At that point it's cheaper to eat out, so why bother giving us a kitchen. It felt as though we were taunted, being given a fridge, plates and glasses that we could not use."
"This was a great place to stay. Spotless room, very helpful desk staff, and exceptional breakfast (included) in a lovely dining room. For those who have a car, parking is free. A small downside for those with arthritis in their hands: the soap is liquid in plastic bottles that are very difficult to squeeze. You might want to bring your own bar soap."
