They said the walk uphill from town back to the hotel was long and steep but I like the exercise. Quiet spot, restful.

This place was absolutely beautiful! We loved the layout of our rooms and it was so clean and the pool was great. The staff was so friendly and helpful and we were able to rent the golf cart we we got tired of walking. This place is out of town and felt very calm and peaceful. Highly recommend!

Definitely a lovely location with an amazing view of the mountains, but I was lucky to have a car to go downtown & back up several times a day - don’t do this place if you can’t walk up steep hills or long distances for that matter 😅 the place itself is lovely but could use better admn.

The hotel itself is fine, the kitchen was great, nice to have a fridge etc, and the pool was lovely, the staff lovely and helpful, but our experience was they had no English, which complicated an already compromised late checkin… however, we found it very very noisy at night, even with earplugs..traffic from the nearby hiway, barking dogs, and many many loud roosters…

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Villas ChulaVista! We walked from the bus station which took 20–30 minutes because of our luggage and the steep uphill climb, but we are in good shape at 65 and 75 years old. The property is beautiful with nice views of the valley below. Gorgeous pool area with plenty of seating and shade. My wife and I had the small studio, which was just fine for us… It had a small refrigerator but no microwave… Very comfortable bed and good AC. The units also have a large container for drinking water, plenty of hot water for showers, and coffee each morning by the desk. There was no breakfast available as the kitchen area seems to be closed permanently. The owner was very nice, but very little English is spoken by the staff. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Sayulita!

2/10 Poor

Booked a kitchen suit with fridge, stove ect. Arrived and found out that there wasn’t any rooms with kitchens left. All my perishable food was wasted. Hotel also indicates breakfast available to buy and that was closed. We came a long ways to be disappointed. Total “BAIT and SWITCH” don’t wast your precious time or money

Good value for basic lodging. Beautiful pool!

We only stayed one night as a last minute move from our Centro location due to noise concerns. The receptionist did not speak any english and we know limited spanish so we didn't get any info at check-in other than our door code and check out time. If there is breakfast as advertised, we couldn't find it. The room was taken care of and beautiful, however the bed was very uncomfortable. One of the 2 queen rooms in our suite had a large window to the main staircase with a thin curtain so that wasn't ideal but thankfully we didn't need the room anyways. Location is at the top of Gringo Hill so get a taxi or Uber!

The staff was amazing, and the place was beautiful, great pool and close to town. I unfortunately had some issues with cockroaches, ants and other bugs in our room due to the open patio :( The stay was very cheap which is amazing but if you are like me and have a fear of bugs it might not be for you. We ended up getting lots of bug spray for our room which seemed to help. There is also a LARGE hill you need to walk up but there is a shortcut down a pair of stairs if you can find it, kind of hidden in the grassy/forest and it leads you right to town. It really was a beautiful place with the kindest staff ever and a great view.

I like alot, could use a little tlc.

It would great if they got some comfortable chairs for relaxing on, none of their chairs were comfortable. Also the beds are not quite the best. They are not good for yourn body. And the pillows are flat. Other then those things the people are super nice, they have good light snack food a nice swimming pool and parking. They could also have a few cleaning supplies and papertowes available .

Chula Vista, the good the bad and the ugly: The good: The two female staff were amazing and super friendly. The pool was beautiful and very relaxing to sit around. The bad: Honestly I was not very impressed with the room, it was extremely bare bones, yes I know I was paying bare bones to stay here but the towels I was given all had stains on them, and some even had holes in them. One of my pillowcases even had a mark on it, No nightstand to put water or cell phone on at night, my stuff had to go on the ground. The ugly; it was a lie that it's only a 7 minute walk to the beach, it's at least 15 and on the way back to the hotel it's literally on top of a mountain and a super steep hike to get to. When I was there in September it was about 70% humidity and by the time I reached the hotel my shirt was like I was standing outside in a downpour for hours with sweat. Overall honestly I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you have no other choice in town.

amazing view and staff, rock hard beds

We stayed in the one bedroom romantic room over Christmas. Pros of the room: air conditioning works great, room was cleaned well, we had all the towels and linens we wanted. Cons: beds are rock hard, the romantic room is so tiny, no TV, walls are a little thin (bring ear plugs), and the lighting was really poor. That said! The romantic rooms open up to the pool level that has lounge chairs and little tables, and an outdoor bbq. The view from here is really incredible. We watched the sunrise most mornings. The best thing about our stay was the lady who runs the place, Esmeralda. She and her family welcomed us with open arms, and treated us like family. She works so hard for the hotel and its guests, and helped us with everything we needed. When she heard that my fiancé had gotten sick, she immediately ran to her kitchen and made him a home remedy! She was truly amazing. While we were there we also saw the other suites. The 2 bedroom villas are certainly worth the price and come with a full kitchen, TV, 2 bedrm, 2 baths, with an unreal view from the 3 balconies in-room. The wifi doesn't work in the rooms, but has a strong signal in the common areas. This hotel is on a great big hill/mountain, and is a good hike. The hotel also has several levels- not good for people with mobility issues! PLEASE NOTE the map on hotels.com is wrong! Google the hotel and find the map on the chulavista website. That one is correct. A huge thank you to Esmeralda. We love you!!
