Hotels.com showed an awesome picture of a room at The Manhattan on Times Square and I booked that room. When we checked in, we were given a terrible room. It was old, dark, and needed a serious renovation. I was shocked and went to the front desk to plead my case. I was told I booked a standard king room which meant I was getting the unrenovated space. If I wanted the one in the picture from Hotels.com, I had to book a premium room which were all sold out for the night. After pleading with the front desk staff, she spoke with the manager and we were moved to a nice room with 2 queens instead of a king. Our anniversary trip started out very rough and I’m upset with Hotels.com for the deceitful advertising because at 500 dollars a night, I should not be given a room that would have failed inspection at a hotel 6! Thankfully the hotel staff made amends and we had a great time in NYC. Beware of Hotels.com bait and switch booking tactics!
