Comfortable room. Beautiful setting Restaurant was good. Pool looked amazing but due to weather we didn’t get to use it. I would stay here again. Greeter was wonderful & very full of information. She helped us find location of local attractions.

Did not receive daily housekeeping. Asked for clean towels did get 2 bath towels and was told someone would bring us hand towels and face clothes which we did not receive. Had to get our own coffee for the following morning from the office. Cleaning products were very overpowering…. Anyone with sensitivities would not do well. On a positive note the beds were comfortable. We did not feel comfortable here so we left a day early.

Nice clean an

We’s been wanting to stay here for 30 years, and took a long weekend to do so. The Hotel was nice, clean, quiet and comfortable. We wanted to avoid Lake Placid due to the Can Am Rugby games and found this location perfect. It was close to Whiteface and its trails, close to alot of fishing spots, and had a clean pool and recliners to relax with at the end of an active day. The Fly shop is also amazing, and staffed by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Calling the Hotel a “Resort” is a bit of a stretch, but for the $$ we were happy overall.

Amazing place, Everyone is so helpful, rustic setting , beautiful Scenery, Ausable River is right there if you fly fish. The Hungry Trout Restaurant is excellent and Casey makes suberb martinis!

Stayed two nights while on a May 7-9 ADKS fishing trip. Check in was super easy, room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay and I enjoyed my stay there. Beds were clean and comfortable, bathroom was spacious, unlike some other hotels, and I loved the shower that had plenty of hot water after a cold, rainy day on the river. While there was no microwave in my room there is one available in the office, which I used a couple of times. I would and will definitely stay at the Hungry Trout again.

Great ski stay spot

This is a great spot to stay for skiing whiteface. 5 mins to the mountain. The location is stunning a the audible river. Look forward to coming again.

Hungry Trout is a basic motel but very nicely kept. The room was outdated but very clean and comfortable. Trout fishing right out back. Love the keyless entry - not to worry about a check-in time. We have stayed a few times now and will definately go back.

My wife and I have enjoyed our stay here immensely...its queit...The rooms are clean and spacious and decorated rustic ,right down to the fisherman lamps and trout door handles on the dressers .They are also reasonably priced..On the property is a restaurant with fine food..(.i highly recommend.. duck a la orange and campfire trout) also , there is a tavern that sells food..and a fly shop that would satisfy any fisherman. .If your a person who wants to indulge in a vacation at lake placid and dont want to spend a fortune on accommodations, too...i assure you this is the perfect place for you... We LOVE staying at The Hungry Trout! We ski Whiteface at least once a year, and sometimes go up for hiking in warmer months. This is the only place we like to stay. It's very cozy, clean, comfortable beds, and convenient to the mountain. Getting into Lake Placid is easy, too. Can't say enough good things about it. Although I haven't been there solo, were I travelling by myself, as a female I would have no problem staying here. (Normally, I would never stay alone anywhere with an outside access.)
