I stayed in an oceanfront room with 2 queen beds. Spacious and very clean. Open the sliding glass door to the balcony and there’s the pool, the street, then the ocean.
This is an older, classic-style beach hotel. They’ve clearly worked hard to remodel and update it. No carpeting - the floors are wood-look vinyl plank and the bathroom is updated with new fixtures. The pillows and beds are clean & comfortable.
The fridge is larger than most hotel refrigerators and there’s a microwave which I never used. The room safe is tucked away near the microwave.
Some amenities need updating.
The towels and washcloths are threadbare. The lock on my balcony door was broken. The door handle is worn with use. There’s a bright security light on the balcony that comes on at night; you’ll need to close the blackout curtains to try to block it.
When I closed the curtains I found a piece of dirty, plastic molding propped in the corner. The AC worked well; a newer wall-mounted thermostat was dead as a doornail. There is plenty of parking on site.
When you check in, there are extra charges for the key, security deposits, etc. I was told that these extra fees will be returned 3-7 days after I check out.
Your room won’t be cleaned if your stay is short unless you request it, for an extra fee.
Cabana Shores is clean and comfortable. I just needed a shower and a place to sleep. I feel like this could go from a C+ to a B+ hotel easily with some attention to small but important details.
