Clean, good onsen, if you have a car great for sightseeing in Ura Bandai area. Dinner is good but breakfast somewhat spartan compare to same level hotels in the area.
I had read he reviews on line and it was mixed i have to say. We were a little concerned. But we wanted a ski in/ ski out place and it was only 2 nights - so we went for it.
The hotel shuttle will pick you up from the station (Inawashiro & about an hour away). You need to book on line with the hotel for these. They are 4 times a day. Otherwise you need a car. The resort is in the middle of nowhere- literally. Beautiful- but beside skiing, nothing within walking distance.
We were excited to have a western room again (after sleeping in traditional Japanese hotels). Large en-suite, large room, very happy. But in true Japanese style - check on time was 3pm and there are no exceptions. The hotel wasn’t full by any stretch of the imagination, but 3 means 3. We were actually fairly used to that after 3 weeks in Japan - but for 1st timers it’s good to know.
Whilst we waited we took advantage of their great locker system and free laundry facilities. They even had detergent there to use freely. Very nice.
We checked out the hotel - 2 restaurants- 1 Japanese & 1 French. Very expensive. ¥6600. Where we’d being paying less than that for 4 people elsewhere. But you are a captured market & it’s a set menu of 4/5 courses.
The shop does sell packet noodles etc & there are microwaves on each floor. We found a nice one that was in a clay pot. We also found the bar sold sandwiches, so we ordered that 1 night too.
The outdoor Onsen (included) was brilliant & well worth
