Hotel Jewel In A Small Town

Total Amazing Hotel. Always not sure what one will get when travelling to a small town. However this hotel exceeded all of my expectations. Friendly and efficient staff, nice size rooms, super comfortable bed and awesome fluffy pillows, AC cools the room off quickly, Actual black out curtains, quiet room, spacious size walk in shower, clean pool and hot tub, and good breakfast.

The property was under some sort of construction. Loud noise began early in the morning as they worked on the concrete pretty much outside our window. Also we were notified at the time of check in that the pool was closed which was the primary reason for booking as we were traveling from out of town and didn’t have plans other than to swim. When we complained they said the we’re trying to get it working and would let us know, it was repaired the following day but we already booked another location by then.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. There wasn’t enough food and we went with plenty of time before the cut off time. The room needed to have extra linen for the sofa bed. The restroom shower floor needed a good scrub. Overall, it was a nice stay.

When we checked and there was no one at the front desk, but when they finally came, staff member was very nice and courteous. We stayed two nights. When we came back to the room on the second day, the room had not been cleaned but all the towels were gone and had not been replaced. the phone in the room doesn’t work. The metal bar holding his shampoo, conditioner and body wash was broken when we arrived, and the bottles were on the floor. Room was clean no major complaints. The room was quiet and could not hear other rooms. And had a good nights sleep. Air conditioning in the gym with me. I do suggest that they put a fan in there.

Busted Elevator Made for a Not-So-Nice Stay

Two issues really impacted my stay. #1. I work for UT Health San Antonio, and this was a business trip for a cycling event we hosted on 10/18. I asked if the sales tax could be removed from my bill. The desk clerk explained that since I booked the trip through a third party, I couldn't have the tax removed. I submitted a sales tax exemption letter and never received any indication that this would be an issue. #2 The elevator was not working, and I had to carry heavy equipment for my event up, and I had to make THREE TRIPS UP THREE FLIGHTS of stairs, and then make THREE TRIPS DOWN THREE FLIGHTS of stairs. This will be the last time I stay at the Holiday Inn
